For those who are new to Focusing and Collimation Masks, refer these CN threads: 1 and 2

The tool is available at this link.

I made this web-based tool to create such masks because the existing tools either required an OS specific download, or didn't generate 3D printable masks directly.

Features:

  • Multiple mask types. Currently the original Bahtinov Mask and Tri-Bahtinov Mask V2 are supported; more coming soon.
  • Output in SVG or STL formats. The STL format can be directly 3D printed.
  • Optional cut-out for a central obstruction; useful for SCTs.
  • Optional flange for holding the mask in place

This is the first release that has only been tested on a couple of browsers. Let me know by DM if you hit any snags.

Thanks to Pavel Bahtinov who created the original mask, Chris Lord (who has a nice article about how it works, and his own version of the mask), cytan299 for the Tri-Bahtinov mask idea, Satoru for the modified Tri-Bahtinov mask idea.

The tool supports two types of designs:

Two types of Bahtinov Masks

The green one on the left sinks inside the OTA barrel while its flange prevents it from falling in. It is suitable for larger apertures as it is more compact and requires less material.

The red one on the right sits like a cap on the OTA barrel and its flange grips the outer surface of the barrel. It is suitable for smaller aperture scopes, DSLR lenses, etc.

There was a bug affecting the red design, which I have now fixed. Thanks to @sctchun for bringing it to my attention!
