I have an annoying 'tree nebula' that blocks that target.

That tree nebula definitely qualifies as an "extended object."

That is as bad as my cumulo-maple cloud. I had to pack up and drive to a field to get M83.

One of the (many) great things I like about this group (you-all in Atlanta-speak) is the 'warts and all' approach to our observation.  It is much easier to make progress when we can see that everyone has their own challenges.  It's so much more about individual improvement and progress than it is about achieving 'perfection', part of my core education philosophy.  Everyone can grow and improve.
