Hi folks,

Just letting everyone know that the David H. Levy Adirondack Astronomy Retreat registration site is open!

David himself plans to be at the retreat for the full week!

The North Jersey Astronomical Group will be sponsoring the retreat this year.

Dates are July 24th -31st. The retreat can be in two shorter segments if one chooses to come to only  a few days.

Many folks have split this retreat with Stellafane since they are not too far form one another.

Its a great time with good people, talks during the daytime too!

Food is catered, rustic cabins, hiking, and more!

For more info watch the talks I gave about the event, and feel free to PM me as well with questions!

Best,

Mark

I happened to do two talks on the AAR this year which are recorded on YouTube if you wish to watch them here:

Entrance to the twin valleys camp and some of the cabins that are available. There is also a main building with menโ€™s and womenโ€™s dorms along with working bathrooms, kitchen walk-in refrigerator and more.
feel free to ask questions!

You may also find very large scopes on the site as well that others may let you look through such as a 25" Obsession!

Hi folks just a fyi we added a few more slots to the first and second half retreats since it seems more forks are doing the 3 day retreat instead of the double. The double is still open as well in case you want to stay the whole week. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘
Best,
Mark

I've been attending this event for a few years and will be in the second three days this year.  The skies are well dark - Cherry Springs dark - Bortle 2-3.  The event is small, with only about 30-35 people attending.  Talks in the day are first rate..   Cabins or bunks - rustic but you don't have to tent.  The food is outstanding and the company is grand....

Highly recommended!!

Dave

This is tempting since I will be up in that neck of the woods in late July. What is the address of the observing field? I can't find it in the posts.

Look Up Twin Valleys Road. Its on the border of Westport NY and Lewis NY. Try either town and it should come up.

Twin Valley Rd, New York 12993

Its about 15 minutes from 1-87. I also speak about it in my talk ( attached link) if you look on my fist post on this thread.

Best,

Mark

Also, if you have Facebook, The talk I did for Amateur Astronomers INC. includes a 10 minute introduction by David Levy. They save their talks / videos to their Facebook page:
