I’m very happy with my double-stacked Lunt 60mm, but I’m wondering if it’s worth upgrading to the 80mm. Even with Lunt providing 50-75% of the cost of the 60mm in a trade-up, I’d still be out $3,000-$4,000. Is the improved detail worth that much?

Hi,

It depends on how much more resolution you want to see and enjoy, if seeing supports, and if you want a slightly brighter double stacked images with binos.... ?

Best way to know is to look through one.

Very best,

When seeing allows aperture always wins.
I’ve been following this forum for a long while and it seems the Lunt 80 is always the most recommended aperture for the perfect scope.

A larger scope can be stoped down if needed but they are best when used for there full benefit.

Make the jump and enjoy.
