I recently acquired a Scope 2534 60mm x 900mm scope with a damaged box.  Looking for anyone with a layout diagram to help me piece this thing back together.  I believe that at least one piece is missing for the rods.  Most of the retaining blocks were busted loose.

Scope needs work, repaint is in order and there is a dent in the tube but is hidden by the clamshell.  Mount is in bad shape.  but the price was right.

Bonus a working tray light!   It had an old set of eveready batteries and has lots of rust on the inside but it functions.

Started making a new rod block, I believe their is supposed to be 2 of them.

 

Anyone have a picture of what the layout is supposed to be or the page from the manual that shows the storage layout?   I'm guessing at how the blocks are supposed to be arranged and what is missing.

The problem is, there are not many examples of Scope telescopes on this site or the internet. Only one with the same model number that showed up in a search was Barry's...

...and it appears it didn't have the wood box. Your best chance is finding a Sears or other Towa made model that is a close match. That said, in many cases they are not exactly the same. I assume yours also has the metal tripod legs, so the Sears and others that featured them are probably your best bet.

Thanks Kasmos, yes a search did not produce many results.  Boxes seem to vary a lot depending on the individual who was making them I suppose.  I'm pressing ahead with what I think it should be.

 

 

Here is the box vacuumed out and ready for repairs.  There is one crack on the bottom of the box that needs repair.  Other than the dislodged and missing block the box is in relatively good shape.

 

Cleaned the objective, it is in good shape but it appears to have pinched optics.  There is a spacer ring instead of the foil tabs.  Tried loosening the retaining ring, wont budge.   I'll keep at it till it does loosen.  Then check the rings under mono light again and see where they are at.

 

In the box there were two lenses floating around loose with an empty barrel and some spacer rings.

 

Another fun little project, along with my Unitron, 4 more microscopes being restored and a surveyors transit I'll be busy for a while.

Couple shots of the scope and finder both need some body work.   Does anyone know of a paint that is close to the blue of the tubes?

Sorry about the upside down pic.  I have rotated every which way before loading and still upside down.  Wish there was a way to flip it once it is in the post.

More of the box, here is the rod block just shy of completely being detached.

Lid separated so removed 4 screws from the top and reglued and clamped it up.

That's it for now.   Thanks for looking at my little project.   Hope to have the scope out under the stars this weekend!   I'll report back and let you know how the objective performs.

A little progress on box repairs.   I always like to have the boxes repaired and in good shape before moving on to the scope repairs.   This way the repaired parts have a nice safe and secure place.

Some nice long clamps make short work of regluing the corners of the box.  Now it's nice and sturdy.   Started on gluing the blocks back in that were broken off.
