Folks, I have a

• Lunt LS50 single stack with the
• B600 blocking filter
• and Feather touch focuser.

 

Visually, I am getting stunning views with a 12mm EP. However, I added my ASI 183MC with the standard 1.25" nose piece and I can't seem to get focus. I am using Sharpcap. I set the exposure to 25ms, 0 gain, no flats or darks, and bin 4 (bin 1 had a worse effect) which sets the histogram at about 75%. However, I am finding that I don't have enough in-travel to focus. Is the ASI 183MC just not the right camera for this use? Anything I can use to move the focal plane outward?

Hi,

 

Put a 2x barlow in front of your camera and it will achieve focus. It will also sample better at the longer focal-ratio.

 

Your 1" sensor can handle the disc image size with room to spare.

A possible option. I had a similar issue of not reaching inward focus with the 1.25” nose piece.

The eyepiece holder on the blocking filter unscrews exposing threads, lose the nose piece and thread the camera directly onto the blocking filter.
