On vacation this week but brought much of my gear along to do some imaging.  AR3038 looks nice in Calcium K-line and continuum.

Images with Takahashi TSA-120 and either (1) Lunt Calcium K-line module, or (1) Baader Herschel wedge.  Zwo ASI174MM camera, best 400 frames selected from 2000 frame videos.

Your TAK shows off its optics with that near UV, especially contrast on the convection cells in your photosphere image!

Ah, yes-  up in Door County, Wisconsin. A Bortle 3 zone,  site of one of the midwest's darkest locations at Newport State Park on the east shore, facing Lake Michigan.  A great place for dark-sky imaging.  Our rented cabin is on the west side of the peninsula, not quite as desirable for solar but still great for dark-sky. And after a night of dark-sky imaging, I can just swap some filters and a different camera and do solar too!  One nice feature of a "dual-use" scope ! (plus that's all that would fit in the car anyway...)

Thanks! In this case I stacked 400 frames. More typically I'll stack 100-200. I'll usually take 1500-2000 frames, use PIPP to down-select the sharpest 400 into a new SER file, and then use Autostakkert to process these, typically selecting the sharpest 100-200 for stacking. Generally,I look at how the resolution falls of in Autostakkert's plot that it shows and usually pick a couple values of number of frames/percentage to stack. I'll then stack in autostakkert and sharpen in registaxx and visually see which set I think gives the better image. Generally speaking, though, I use 100-200. Just that yesterday the falloff in seeing was more gradual than usual so I stacked more frames.
