ZWO ASI2600MC Pro + Skywatcher 72/420 + 0.85x field flattener

ZWO ASI120MC-S + 30/f4 mini guide scope

Skywatcher EQ6R Pro, PHD2 guiding and dithering

APT software, Siril, Photoshop

Bortle 5

First image is with the IDAS NB3 filter which is a duoband SII/OIII filter. 6u30min

NB3-3000px.jpg

Second with the L-eXtreme Ha/OIII. 9u30min

L-e-Xtreme-3000px.jpg

This is a combination of both images to create SHO Hubble palette. SII from NB3, Ha from L-eXtreme, OIII from both

Very impressive! That's an interesting strategy opened up by the NB3 filter.

A couple of questions:

I'm not sure about your exposure times. Does 6u30 mean 6 hours and 30 minutes? Or 6 30-minute exposures (that seems unlikely)

Did you use a second filter (uv/ir cut) as recommended by Hutech? Not sure how I would accomplish two stacked filters with my current setup.

Thanks, no UV/IR filter since my cam has one built-in.

I took 5min exposures for a total of 6u30min and 9u30min.

My field flattener has a thread for a 2inch filter. I wouldn´t know where to put the UV/IR filter.

Very impressive images. The combination of the two looks just amazing, ready for framing and hanging on the wall.

My field flattener has a thread for a 2inch filter.

Correction, not the field flattener but the Skywatcher rotator has a thread for a 2" filter.

Those are some cracking good images.  Well captured and exquisite processing to blend and bring out the details!

The 2600MC already has a UV/IR cut filter in the camera smile.gif

Fantastic results! I had a question regarding your channels. When you recombined the images was Sii=R Ha=G and Oiii=B?

I'm trying to see if I can get something similar to the SHO combinations in the following article:

https://rockchucksum...-S-H-O-Channels

I'm interested in the Foraxx and OSH palettes. I also use a 2600mc but with the Idas dualband 12nm filter. If the NB3 can get me enough Sii I'll be happy.

Unfortunately, the NB3 is no longer being produced so I have bought a Sii filter instead

It seems like the 2" 48mm NB3 is in stock here and here. The 52mm version is still available at many places, TS , Ashop , FLO , ATech.

Yup, that's right. For the OIII part, sometimes I use the NB3 OIII and other times the L-extreme OIII. Sometimes combining also works, every object is different.

I don't use Pixinsight. I use Siril to split the channels and recombine with RGB Compositing.

Thank you for the response, I believe I understand how to do this. Normally I take R as my Ha and use the B & G channels to create Oiii. So Sii would be the R channel from NB3.

I was able to find the filter here in US. No tax and free shipping with a small 5% discount for signing up to their email list.
