Hello,

I was thinking about further really improvements for my project and i need to consider to get better equipment (lens, cameras, laptop computer with many CUDA cores) to get significant better results.

I am not sure it is the right place to ask for help and if it is not, i apologize and i will delete this post.

Well, i do need better equipment but as my equipment is not that bad, it means i need expensive equipment. For 8 years, i bought myself my equipment but this time, the level is a bit high.

So, a friend of mine told me to make a funding pot. So i did.

I don't know if you can participate from an other country than France.

So, if you find my work interesting and you want to help me getting better equipment, you can go there :

http://www.leetchi.c...ojet-astronomie

It is all in French and i am very sorry for that.

The fund target is very high so don't be surprised. I try to get very good equipment and very good equipment is always very expensive.

You can also share the funding pot if you want. This will allow me to touch more people.

Many thanks in advance.

Alain

For now, epic fail. It seems my work is a bit crappy. I did not expect so less. Must I say that I am not a professional ?

Next things will be on Nvidia developer forum only.

Topic closed.

Bye.

I would like to say thank you for developing this project.

Some of your videos are amazing.

I did give it a try but had dfficulty getting decent results.

Thank you.

Thanks jkelly.

It is hard to get good result when you try to amplify the signal strongly. Even for me, it does not work all the time.

Some of my videos are really interesting but it seems we are very few to think that. It's not a real problem. The most important thing is that I am interested with my work. To bad I did not succeed to share this with many people. I think they miss something great but I am a bit tired to make efforts for nothing so I stop here and I will only continue with Nvidia. Here, it is useless for me and for other people.

Bye and I hope you will finally get some results with JetsonSky one day.

Alain

Hi Alain, Thank you for your great work!

Does JetsonSky work with other cameras apart from ZWO? SpecificalIy have a SVBONY 305 which is based on the Sony IMX290.

Regards,
Giorgio

Hi Giorgio,

Unfortunately, JetsonSky only works with ZWO cameras. It is because I get a python binding which allow me to use ZWO SDK. I don't have this python library for other cameras.

An example of stabilization and atmospheric turbulence management with a video of the Moon :

https://youtu.be/Ue2wcJbf06w

That kind of JetsonSky feature can also be done while capturing the video.

An other target : M42

https://youtu.be/-2Y7_jta_pg

Unfortunately, Youtube gives quite bad videos sometimes. The original video is better.

That's all.

It seems my work does not interest many people, considering i get zero comment.

Fortunately, i am interested with my work and i will post pridefully my last video.

I made a post treatment of my M42 video, using noise and turbulence management and automatic background gradient removal filter. The final result is better.

https://youtu.be/6cXfrmwct1U

I think i can get such final result during capture and live treatment (single pass treatment, no post treatment).

Tchus.

Hi Alain,

as I already wrote to you under your last video on YouTube, I think it's a pity that you've decided to no longer share your project with others.

I would be happy if you would change your decision.

A few days ago I bought an Nvidia Jetson Orin NX and the 7artisans 35mm/0.95 lens with an adapter for the ZWO ASI 585MC.

I recently downloaded your software from GitHub and can at least carry out initial tests.

Are there really so few people here who are interested in similar projects? I would also be happy to meet people who would like to participate in such a project(s) or exchange ideas.

Clear Skies

Stefan

Hello Stefan,

I have to solve some issues I get in JetsonSky code. It will take me few weeks because I have no time to do this for now.

Give me your email in a PM and I will give you the last version of my soft.

If you really want to use it, I will give you some information about the filters settings you could use. We will exchange with mail.

More generally, I won't share JetsonSky any more. I will work for my personal projects.

Have a nice day.

Alain

The stabilization is great but I really like the rich colors you bring out. Could you tell us more about the process you are using to colorize your mineral moon videos? I know many people simply increase the saturation (or vibrance) to create a colorized image but it appears you go a step further?

The main solution is to increase colour saturation but it is not enough to get many colours and keep image sharpness and details.

To get many colours, you will have to manage image quality (remove noise), increase contrast and apply a gaussian filter to get good result. This will give you the map of the images colours.

To preserve sharpness, you will have to combine the RAW image (so classical colours with good details and sharpness) with the colours map, using an appropriate algorithm.

If you do this with a video, you will have to make all those treatments for each frame.

I wrote a single pass algorithm to do this in JetsonSky (Python, OpenCV, Cupy and CUDA in order to use my GPU to make calculus). With my laptop (i9-13980H, RTX4080), i get about 10fps for that kind of treatment with a 4K video. It is quite fast.

Nice, I get the idea, can you share that section of your code? I’d like to try it out on a some images I have. The code doesn’t have to run, just the basic algorithm, I can wrap put it together to try it out.

I shared my code for months but it interested very few people and it was quite heavy work for me so i decided to keep my work in order to use my small free time to work for my personal goals.

So, i am sorry but i share nothing now. But if i made JetsonSky, i guess others could do the same or better.

I understand. If you want to explain your mineralization algorithm in more detail I’ll implement it as a stand alone and put it on GitHub. I thought the results were nice.

Hi,

an other test to improve Moon video capture.

This time, i can choose the part of the video i want to stabilize (i choose the hook placing). Then, i manage turbulence in order to apply sharpening.

I think it’s a huge step forward to get more precise and detailed videos of the Moon (or planets). For sure, RAW capture must be as good as possible and low turbulence is a must have.

Looks great, so sharp. Do you compute any type of sharpness metric? You might be able to use such a measure in a feedback loop to dynamically adjust the algorithm.

I did not compute any sharp metric. It is hard to get automatic sharpen setting which will give good result. It depends so much of the image noise.

Hi,

i continue to improve turbulence management and sharpness enhancement with video capture. I am very pleased with the result. JetsonSky really starts to get impressive results. In fact, i think there is no equivalent software.

The video (worth seing in my opinion) :
