Hi All,

 

We all know the Dumbell Nebula.

Even in small scopes, the pattern of the apple core for the brightest part, or the rugby ball for the overall PN, must be easily seen.

 

But in larger apertures, the nebula unveiles an outer halo, and more, an outer - outer halo.

Here are an image of the DSS where I enhanced the halo, and two sketches: the PN is as I saw it in my 25 inches in the upper sketch, whereas I enhanced the halo only with the processing of contrast versus luminosity, below.

 

The latter shows that this halo can also be seen with numerous details.
