An interesting opportunity to see a supernova at 0.35 redshift, further than would normally be possible with typical amateur imaging. Currently at r mag 18.8, it is approximately 3 magnitudes brighter than normal due to gravitational lensing.

Cool to think this is a single star (an exploding white dwarf) at ~4 billion light years (comoving distance)

It has now been imaged by HST and resolved into four lensed components
