Anyone have a horizontal adjust screw for the old GPD green mount?

One got bent in shipment & the knob is fine if I can get the chrome plated M8 x 50mm threaded part - trying to keep it original if possible. Have looked at various M8 machine screw options on Amazon and eBay and don't want to saw the end off a bolt if I can help it - Thanks!

Hi Rich,

Been a while.  I make tips like that all the time but just for show. I use stainless. That way there is no worry about going through plating and looking ugly or corroding. Sometimes I do tips rounded like that for contact but usually a slight convex surface is enough.

I just took the knob boxes picture and there are some more. I'd need the thread specs to check. Bear in mind that several handfuls or even dozens of knobs is a miniscule collection compared to the variations out there. Most inquiries for a specific item come up empty here. (I get a pm request off and on through the year) wink.gif.  Get thread specs and I'll check, and I'll dome tip it for the cost of shipping - in the unlikely event I match up very close.

I buy these floweret tops that are made to tight press onto cap bolts (top 3). They come in different sizes and colors at my local ACE. No need to cut a bolt head off.  I then reinforce the top with an auto hose clamp. I haven't seen one fail yet.

I poked around to find the bottom two, kinda similar but no way to judge thread pitch.

I hope you find an original.

I bought two old Circle-V eyepieces. Nice eyepieces, clean optics and undamaged coatings, but the chrome barrels are very beaten up, likely through the combination of screw damage to the chrome and then exposure to moisture.

A bit of a long shot: Does someone have one (or even two) spare Circle-V chrome barrels they might agree to part with? (The issue is purely cosmetic; if no Circle-V barrels can be found, I'd rather keep the eyepieces as they are instead of replacing the barrels with some generic ones).

Hi guys, I've been looking around for one of those Vixen swivel finders for my C102f for about a year.. I think I may have found one, but it's missing the base that actually attaches the finder assembly to the focuser.. it's square and has 4 screw holes... if anyone is familiar with it and has one in their parts drawer they're willing to part with, that'd be greatly appreciated.. thanks!

This may not be the right forum, but I’m looking for setting circles for a 1” Cave mount. If I could also find pointers for the 1.5” Cave mount that would be great.

I have one thing I've been looking for for over a year now. I need the RA slow motion gear and knob for a Dynamax. When I was going through my good Dynamax, I was trying to completely disassemble the drive system for cleaning and adjusting. In the process, I broke the slow motion knob stem. So I need that knob and the post/gear it attaches to on the fork base. Or even a complete fork base would work as well.

I actually was able to find one I knew I had somewhere, but got misplaced among a sea of parts.. managed to unearth it.   Finderscope is mounted and after lots of messing around, got it reasonably aligned.  Thank you though!

Just a heads up.  The finder is integral to the stalk. It can not be taken out like a regular finder and mount. The cross hairs are moved for alignment which is a bit funky.  You get the base and stalk bolted up to the scope so that the finder is fairly close to alignment, then move the crosshairs to the target for final.

The eyepiece end can be removed to see how it works inside. I believe the finder body is permanently bonded to the stalk.

Hi,
Actually need a few Unitron parts, but I will start with this.
I need 2 finder scope brackets for a 50s Unitron model 145, wondering if anyone might have a couple laying around they will never use.. Priority for the time being.

Thought about using the brackets on the 152 as a pattern and adjust contact area for three inch to make a casting, but much rather just skip the temporary fix..
Thank you

Other parts needed are...a 40mm finder scope for my 152; same as 145 finder of course. Or the visual back for same.
Protective rings for same.
One level for the mount on 152.
And a set screw for finder bracket on 152 as well
Dust cap for the 75mm scope
Oh, and original tripod (short one) for 152

Yikes, need to dust

Temporarily, you can use rubber test tube stoppers -- the kind with one hole for a glass tube.

Or big rubber bungs with a central hole that fit into glass winemaking carboys?

I need a tailpiece for 1.25-inch eyepieces that screws into the focuser drawtube of a Unitron 2.4 or 3 inch refractor. My drawtube is about 1.375 inch outer diameter, with one end fine-threaded internally. I already have a tailpiece for it that fits 24.5-mm eyepieces: It vaguely resembles a pipe reducer, with one end threaded male to fit the drawtube, and the other end a slip fit for 24.5 mm.

What I want is a similar tailpiece that provides a slip fit for 1.25 inch.

Does anyone have one to spare, or know of a likely source?

Scopestuff sells them. But there are a couple of different versions that require careful measurement to choose between. Astronomy Shoppe also used to have them, but I don't know if Tony still caries them.

I am looking for a polar alignment scope for an older Polaris mount.  Not sure what model it is.Here are some photos of it.

I'm also trying to find out if there is something I can use to adapt it for use with dovetail rail/mounts.

Replying to ccwemyss's post # 1070: Neither of the ScopeStuff adapters has the same thread diameter as my existing 24.5 mm tailpiece, so they will not fit. I tried to order a tailpiece from Astronomy Shoppe a few weeks ago. I received an email acknowledgement of that order, and they have charged my credit card (via PayPal) but they have not shipped yet.

If all else fails, this little trick using a C8 visual back might work for you.
