here's my 10-second video on how to attach the hand controller bracket to an Evolution 8 scope so there is no danger of cordwrap.

this is using the standard bracket that comes with the scope, there is no need for 3rd-party brackets.

Most worthy hack I have seen - have followed it  and done it!

Bloody awesome stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thinking outside the box.

I was using Velcro's previously to hold handcontrol to the side of the upright.

I used to do it that way. I switched to https://www.revoluti...stron-evolution

It keeps the face of the HC next to the EP. I can work the HC without taking it out of its mounting bracket.

yes, that's the way Celestron should have done it, back in the day!

for me as a "what's an eyepiece?" EAA type, and driving the whole operation from an ASIAir+, the hand control is just an annoying necessity to connect a usb to, so having it close to the body of the scope is fine.

but i can see the appeal of that for others.

and it turns out that many long-term Evo users aren't aware that the bracket can go anywhere but the tripod legs.

Hi,

Starizona has the NexStar Evolution Hand Control Bracket for $15.00.

It keeps the HC pointed to the operator.

yeah, I tried that a few years ago, but it really wasn’t all that convenient for me as it faced the wrong way.  spent whatever and got myself the starizona 3d printed version. then i started using my EVO for EEA and just velcro’d the darn thing to a convenient spot out of the way. haha

My robot vacuum pushed over my Evolution tripod which broke the HC holder. Too bad those are not available as a spare part from Celestron. I'll check out some of the Thingiverse solutions.

This should work with the Evo 6 and 8, but the tripod bracket with the 9.25 is larger to fit the HD tripod and wont clip on the same way.

I 3D printed one very similar to the Starizona one, it works but isn't very secure.

now I usually just use a long velcro strap in attach it to the outside of the arm.

I tried putting it on the tripod leg. Fit perfectly but then I had to worry about cord wrap.
