Greetings,

Does anyone know if I can use one of the four 12V DC Outputs on the ASIAIR Plus to power my EQ6-RI mount?

If so, what cable do I need? (please send link).

The only cable that I currently have for powering my mount, is the cigarette lighter type, which obviously won't plug into the ASIAIR Plus.

Clear Skies!

The EQ6R is better off with its own power source. The ASIair Plus has 6 amps available total (maybe only 5) between the 4 outputs. The mount will draw up to 4 amps by itself.

I power my EQ6-R Pro with the ASIAir Plus. I use this going into the mount: https://starizona.co...1e2e7d3dd&_ss=r and this going into the air: https://starizona.co...-adapter-12v-dc

Max I've seen it draw is just over 2 amps when slewing at the maximum motor speed with 30 lbs of equipment. I also power 2 cameras (1 cooled) and the focus motor.  Maybe I'm playing with fire (literally), but so far after 4 months no issues.

Can? Yes.

Better off not. I am going to say this is opinion rather than fact. I personally have not had control board trouble.

2 amps is for max slew in one direction. If you do a slew in both DEC/RA then both motors run which can pull up to 4amps. Just had to test this for a pegasus power box. That's a lots of amps.

I would avoid running the EQ6-r from the ASIair pro. It's just too power hungry.

I’ve done it when using the scope for visual. But I wouldn’t do it with camera cooling and dew heaters on.

For the cable I bought the coaxial and aviation connectors and made my own.

I got mine to run off it, but the LED power light on the mount kept flashing and I understood that to be a warning that it was suffering from low power.

BTW, you can make your own power cable much cheaper.  I'm just saying, because I consider it , once I'll get power cable problems

The ASIair comes with so many power cables, it works well to add a aviation connector to one of those. Hardly ever gets used, but it looks good.
