It's a Baker design, 3mm air gap. Not possible unfortunately.

No, I actually meant put oil between the lens and the huge piece chipped off, if you still had it.  Capillary action (if the oil is correct) might hold it in place.

And here is the view of the masks installed and what the eyepiece sees from the back end. Couldn't be happier with how these turned out!

Might want to round the corners of the patch.  Otherwise, some kind of diffraction might happen.

"Chippy" is complete and I got it mounted by myself last night (separated into 3 parts). Star tests with the chip mask were weird, but wide views on M57 were good, nice and sharp. 7" mask was excellent on the Moon and on double stars, 5" mask was exceptional as expected.

If you make the mask covering the chip circular and it's edge orthogonal to the aperture boundary, you may see lesser diffraction effects.

I would buy if only was 3 hour drive but can't do a 28 hour drive. 1925 miles!

I have a few chipped scopes and in focus views are good.Be interesting to try a 10" refractor.

I'm happy to report that I've finished restoring my main 10" refractor. Just got the tube painted a nice single stage urethane "Whimbledon White" at a local paint shop and finished reassembling the whole kit. Got it mounted up with the assistance of my ceiling mounted scope hoist I recently installed and it worked perfectly. Happy to say that now both of these 10" refractor projects are now finished. This one to enter into my viewing rotation, and the other remains for sale for the right buyer! Now to the juicy photos!

It's a TS Optics 3" R&P with 110mm travel, m117 flange with 3 M117 spacers I can add/subtract as needed for backspacing.

It turned out very nice. bow.gif

That's quite the Semi, err Buggy.

Do some come that way or is it custom by Jordan?

How's it to manuever?

What's the whole rig weigh?

Are you going to mount a finder?

What kind?

Thank you! It's a stock JMI Medium Heavy Duty Motorized Wheelie Bar. I got it in a trade from a local friend. I plan to modify it heavily though. The motorization sucks so I'm going to strip that off. Then going to swap the rigid mounted pneumatic tires for beefy swivel casters since i won'tbe using it off-road. The parallel dual rear tires make the turning radius almost infinite, it's less turning and more dragging. Especially difficult for a ~500lb setup (pier 75lbs, RA axis 75lbs, DEC axis 75lbs, counterweights 75lbs, scope 125lbs, wheelie bar 75lbs).

For the finder I made a 3D printed ring setup with an Orion ST80 and vintage C8 adjustable CW that I'll mount on the scope next.

And here are the 3D printed rings with the finderscope and sliding counterweight. Works perfectly!

Fantastic job...What a beautiful scope.  The mobility is awesome/  I hope you have enough room when she is at zenith...staying out of the dirt.

One item I wanted was, the spotter had to be close to the scope's eyepiece.  One reason I mounted long focus spotters with rich field EP's.

You've done a great job!  Enjoy.

Rob

What a beauty! I think your showing off a bit with 6 tires, your going all "East-bound and down..."

Ha, thanks! I think I might be changing the tires out for hard casters though. Too much friction when turning with the pneumatic tires, it's quite difficult to turn because of the weight. And I use it mainly at home with my garage and driveway both smooth concrete.
