- The cherries are awesome. Every year we get a Care Package of Door County fried cherries, chocolate coated and plain.. 

Fried cherries? I need more info on this. Please tell me you didn't mean dried cherries.

They're similar to dried cherries except that the spell checker goofed up.

The middle son and his family live in Appleton...

 

I know two things about Door County:

 

People who live in Appleton say it's cold up there.  When you live in San Diego, it's cold up everywhere. The difference between Appleton and Door County is subtle.

Lake Michigan side of Door County is a bit colder than the Bay side. Appleton is further south, far more inland and isn't affected by the Bay or the Lake very much. 

Door County is famous for their apple and cherry orchards. A lot of winemakers "up there".
