Obviously, I haven't used flats for this, but the alignment still looks off even after using star alignment in pixinsight. Could this be from DSS?

Here are all of the files, there is a jpeg in the dated folder.

Edit: There is also very, very, very little integration time. 7 each LRGB @ 180 seconds and 15 darks at 180s. I'll get flats later.

Your image isn’t visible if you had meant to post one.

Your question is a bit confusing.  Why would DSS affect star alignment in PixInsight?  Or are you doing the star alignment in DSS?

That’s why I’m asking I may be doing something incorrect. I’ve used PI once now. I stacked LRGB as individual channels with a master dark in DSS. I processed the 4 channels as linear in PI then a LRGB combine after. Well it was bad off then. So I then went back and done a star align on the 4 channels in PI before the LRGB Combine. The resulting image is in my drive. Parts of it still look misaligned. I’m just trying to figure out what I did wrong. I can get decent data but I’m terrible at processing.

I looked at your final image jpeg in your google drive. Where do you see a problem with star alignment? I don't

Well more specifically, it looks like a channel misalignment. There is a dust mote circled and a red spot to the left of that. Upper right of the pic.

I mean I understand if it was a channel misalignment then everything would be off. I just don’t know what it is and I don’t think flats data will fix that red spot. There is several of those on the photo.

Looks like your problem is because you didn't use flat frames.

Like Tapio wrote above, you need to use flats to calibrate your lights. Only then stack, align etc.

You don't have any misalignment problem. You have "not using calibration frames" problem.

Like my original post states I didn’t use flats and I know flats will fix the dust motes, but how will it fix the red spots? I only had two hours last night and worked today plus my rotator was at a different angle than normal so I can’t use the flats I already have. I’ll get some flats taken in the next few days. Again I’m new to PI and want to make sure it wasn’t something I wasn’t messing up there.

The red spots are dust motes misaligned when you registered the LRGB to each other. Use flats and it will go away

Thank you! Explaining why helps me understand the whole process better. “Do this” helps to but I like to know why something is wrong it helps me down the road on other problems also.

again thanks for the help guys. I’ll get those flats.

Of course. And if we are not clear enough then keep asking and we'll try better :)

You guys are always helpful, patient mostly lol. I’m terrible at explaining anything. This is literally my 4th image ever so I still have quite a bit to learn. I actually just got my setup back after a year of it being Mia/stolen. So I kind of had the same first time out excitement last night. I’m lucky I took the time for darks.

Take it easy. It's a long process. Make sure you make it a fun one.
