I don't know if it's the same but when viewing the sun this morning with my PST I was able to observe an unusual filament/prominence. It appeared that the filament rose up from the surface, curved out into space (became a prominence) and then bent back to the surface, leaving a black dot in the middle. Very cool!

Wow, an absolutely great image and view! And still a few years until Solar Max, bring it on!
