Stupid question, but I'm coming up blank on it: how do I save an equipment profile after I set one up and name it? I can't locate a Save button anywhere...

On the top of the right hand panel on the settings panel you can name the profile. It will be saved when you change profiles or close NINA. When you reopen NINA it will open that profile. Be careful you don't change it accidentally. Choose the default profile in the left panel then edit its contents and rename it.

Settings are committed to the profile storage as they are made.

Is there a way of reverting settings back to some known good point, in case I thoroughly screw things up?

You can create copies of any profile. You can create a copy for backup purposes.
