1985 C8 last night.

Very cool. I can feel the solar heat.
What do you think is the nature of the blue glow on the dark side; is it an optical/photographic artifact like glare or from processing, or is it something real?

I suspect that is a ghost reflection from the back side of the corrector plate. Such ghosts are very useful for precise collimation in a Schmidt-Newtonian.

It's definitely an internal reflection of the optics. I like the effect though.

Gorgeous picture! Sometimes these effects add a lot of character to an image. Wonderful!

Me too. It looks like a shock wave.

How is the CC for visual? I had a Meade SN10 for a while - I tended to think of it as a coma-reduced imaging scope, but it was never in stable thermal equilibrium long enough to evaluate visually. I became frustrated by it.

It works decent
It's not a super planetary
But its fast at 3.6
Sn10 is big and that mass
Takes time
This is 5.5 and cools pretty fast

I swear Borodog!! The beautiful pair of Messier A and Messier B craters look nearly as good in your Astrobin image as an Apollo photograph. I hope you don't mind if I took a screenshot.
here is a shot from Apollo 11:

My Unitron 128 configured for imaging using an uncooled ZWO ASI294MC camera...
This camera offers a relatively large type 4/3" color sensor and is very lightweight without a shutter to shake the scope when it takes an image. If I can add a clock drive I'd like to try some basic deepsky imaging with this telescope. Should be fun!

It will work fine for that. I did a little bit of DSO EAA work with a Mayflower (SYW) 814 60/700 and my ASI294MC with nice results. I should have kept that scope, I miss it.
I would recommend not letting the cable hang from the end of the scope like that when using a drive, as it doesn't take much to mess up the tracking; attach it along the OTA down to the mount for strain relief.

Good luck! Ive tried similar setup (with ZWO ASI 178MC, 2,4 pixel size) with my 114 model and got quite decent results, despite partly broken lens:

Lukasz,
Those are all wonderful shots.
This is the 1985 C8 again, Sony a6000, through the clouds at only 7 degrees of elevation. Only 5 frames stacked but I still like how it came out. My apologies if it makes you feel like your glasses are fogged up, though.
