I recently purchased a ZWO 220mm Mini to use as a guide cam with PHD2. I've installed the most recent ZWO drivers on a Win 11 PC. ASI Studio recognizes and reads the camera. PHD2 does not recognize nor connect with the camera. Am I missing s step?
Thanks!
Rick

Make sure you have the latest zwo ASCOM driver 6.5.13 installed on your pc here
https://astronomy-im...oftware-drivers
scroll down to ASCOM drivers (opt) section if you havent done so already
Prereq, the latest ASCOM platform 6.6sp1 must be installed first before the driver above.....

This is a copy of an asi220mm user review from agena astro dated 11/28/22.
I've only been able to use this a few times due to the weather, but it works great. I did have to download the latest driver software to get my computer to recognize it. It works in The SkyX and PHD2, though I have to run it as an ASCOM camera in PHD2. Nice chip and pixel size, easy to find guide stars.
Perhaps Phd2 needs to be reinstalled after the ascom platform/ascom driver? or you have run into a win-11 ‘feature’.
If you havent already, install the latest zwo 3.20 native windows camera driver as well.

I recently purchased this camera. After downloading the latest version of the asi ascom driver from zwo I was able to connect to it using phd2, without any problem. I’ve also been able to connect to this camera using the ascom driver with NINA.

Thx.10
There appears to be a common denominator with this issue, windows 11.
The answer of whether its phd2, asi's 220 ascom driver or win11 itself is the hard part.
Perhaps someone successfully running phd2 with a 220mm on win11 can chime in here?

Same here. Windows 11= ASI220 will not talk to PHD2. It talks to Nina, it talks to ASI Studio, and windows sees it just fine. I don't have any windows 10 boxes left, so I hope they fix this issue.

Good advice. It looks like the OP has done that, and it will be interesting to see what ZWO suggests.

Nina and asi studio use the native driver.
Phd2 uses the ascom driver and have the previous version of asi's ascom driver v6.5.12 available here:

If you would like to try it out? might be worth a shot...
Uninstall v6.5.13 before you load this one if you do.

I was going to get an asi220mm mini and oag but I'm running Windows 11 for my capture PC. I think I'll hold off until this gets fixed - hopefully ZWO can release a new ASCOM driver that works with PHD2 on Windows 11.

I posted a link to the previous version above in hopes someone running win11 can try it out, maybe its just a bug in the current asi ascom driver version? All my PC's are still running win10 and locked down (via group policy) from auto-upgrading to win11...

To all,
ZWO replied on their forum with the following fix described as follows:
Can PHD2 recognize the 220mini via ZWO driver? not ASCOM, please update the ZWO-SDK (x86) ASIcamera2.dll file in the PHD2 installation folder first.
C:\Program Files (x86)\PHDGuiding2
We tested it on Win11 but didn't reproduce the problem.
In short, you need to only replace the (1 file) camera driver dll included in this zip. Since PHD2 is a 32 bit program, use the dll located in the (x86) folder respectively. You will see the same file name in the phd2 directory, replace ASIcamera.dll or rename the current and copy in this one.
I'm running a 120mm-mini on win10 so provide some feedback if this works....

Awesome! Glad to hear there's a workaround, and also glad to see that you can use the new native driver (that supports the 220mm mini) in PHD2 by copying the 32 bit dll over the existing one.

I see no reason it shouldn't work but would like some feedback from someone(s) running win11 to verify.
This workaround might also work with other programs/(new)cameras having issues in win11...???

I will verify this workaround tonight and see if I can get it working.

Just to close the loop, I installed the new native dll on my Windows 10 system and was able to connect and control the 220mm mini successfully.from PHD2.
