Has anyone ever used these things? I'm talking about a port on the mount that you supposed to connect your DSLR and take photos.  I'm just curious, because I don't think I ever seen a topic talking about it.

I just looked it up, it is for a cameras remote control.  What camera, does not say. would have to read deeper.

I don't have that mount, I have a Paramount ME.

I used to use the snap port on my EQ6R Pro when I used a Canon T31. I have the WiFi dongle and could control it wirelessly with the SynScan app on my phone or tablet.

I used it on my Star Adventurer.

Simple when out in the field. No computer needed.

The reason I was looking at it and thought about using it, in perhaps situations when the camera isn't compatible with any of the photo apps on windows or linux.

Just needs a typical remote cable connected to the camera.  With the Green Swamp Server telescope control can set up loops of whatever second exposures.  Great for people with non-compatible cameras.
