Well, I finally got to pick this scope up from my parents. For those who do not know, I got it for $100.00 from an add on Craigslist. The scope was supposed to need the mirrors recoated. I removed the mirrors from the scope, they were dirty, very dirty. In fact, the primary surface looked exactly like the surface of a brown paper bag. Ok, got myself some distilled water, a drop of cheap blue dishwashing liquid, cotton balls, etc... cleaned the primary, it came completely clean, looks like new except for one or two small spots. I was very happily surprised. The secondary cleaned up to look perfect. I cleaned up the tube nicely, looks good, with only one small spot near the primary where it is slightly damaged but I should be able to fix it. Focuser, I see why people replace this thing. Unfortunately, I did not get to use it at night but am very confident this scope will perform. I still need to clean the one eyepeice that came with it but it is minimal. Only a spider web on the inside that does not appear to touch the lense surfaces. The finder is excellent. The tube could use painting and so could part of the mount. The mount itself though is in excellent shape with no rust anywhere. I have not had time yet to clean it up but as it came it appears to work very well. I need to test the motor still yet. I am quite happy with the scope even though I have not got to test it under the stars. Daylight use on a distant cell tower looks good but that is no where near as good a test as the starts. Looks like clouds for the next week.... But I am still happy. I will post some pics when I get a chance.

Darren:

You should be plenty happy with your RV-6. These scopes are pretty amazing and the OTA is a whole lot lighter than your CR150HD. If the drive has problems, there are some good weblinks on how to replace the motor for about $30 or so.

Daren, Nice scope. Post a pic when you get a chance.

I sold my RV-6 in pieces a while back and regreted it. I bought back the OTA when the buyer put it on amart a few years later but haven't pick it up yet. The mount is long gone so I do plan on getting mine back in shape at some point.

Still no pics but did get it out for a few minutes a couple nights ago. Was looking through holes in clouds so didn't get to see much but moon was nice, Orion nebula looked great, Trapazium showed me five stars. Now if I could just get a few days off with clear sky's and not too cold nights.
