And very different layout and presentation.

Haven't had time to study it yet but certainly looks beautiful .

Oh wow, that is an interesting new format..thanks for sharing!   I have the third edition and have always enjoyed the star charts with embedded magnified inserts on the same page.

I've just had a look at this on Amazon.

I've not bought any of the earlier editions but I'll get a copy of the new one.

It's quite impressive. Placing the photos right there on the page spread makes them much more useful of course, and the coated paper and added use of color helps as well. It also lies reasonably flat when opened. A big leap forward for this book. Nicely done.

Also I  love the new Milky Way image section... I'm going to be liking this book a lot!

Unfortunately, for those of us in the UK, Amazon is quoting a release date at the end of May. Yes, available from Amazon.com, but quite a bit more expensive.

Anyone in the UK got a copy of this new 4th edition  from a UK supplier? Or is May 29 here fixed for all?

Mine came today from pre-order back in January laugh.gif

First impression is very positive: this is a well thought-out atlas!

Thanks for the info.

The German version of the 4th edition looks to be available, but the English version has the May date.

I'm in no hurry, and something to look forward to! Waiting might give my credit card a chance to cool down after all the astro stuff it's been buying recently...

Should have typed "copy". Anyway...

A 3rd Edition arrived yesterday afternoon. I like it. The size of the book is smaller than several of my observing guides, but it's a good addition and quite portable so to speak. I really like the object pics in the appendix - good for getting an idea of what to expect at the eyepiece.

All in all, it's a waytogo.gif

Something I did with my third edition. I wanted something waterproof and that when opened  laid flat. So I photo copied all pages that I wanted from the northern hemisphere,  laminated them two per 8 1/2 by 11 laminated sheet,  cut them in half, punched holes in them and then attached them with the loose leaf binder clips. It's not the neatest thing in the world but it works for me.  Check out the photos and you'll see how I laid it out so that the information is opposite the actual charts.
