I’ve looked on the forums and can’t really find a direct comparison to these mounts. I have a c11 edge and I’m wanting a well made mount for astrophotography. So my question is this. Is the eq8r worth the extra $2,000 over the cq350? The only weight I would have on the mount would be the c11 with a focal reducer and dslr and occasionally hyperstar.

CQ350 is quite a new mount, so there isn't much (if any) information about it on here. C11 edge seems to be about 13kg, so even with your accessories you are looking at 15 -16kg - which should be well within within the capability of either mount.

 

There are few posts here about C11 on a EQ6-R which should also be capable of handling your setup with a rated limit of 20kg.
