I don't have the link can you just cut and paste this into Google

SVBONY SV207 Telescope Eyepiece Kit, 1.25 inches 8mm 15mm 25mm 30mm FMC Super Plossl Eyepiece, 50 Degree Telescope Accessory

It should show up an Amazon link and select the one with the set of four eyepieces of $48

This topic is about inexpensive refractors, not eyepieces. We have another board for that. Okay, thanks.

It may not be at the level of savings Anony started the UIR, but there is a 30% coupon on Svbony's SV48P, and other items so maybe the Unusually Inexpensive Refractors are coming back    - https://www.amazon.c...B09KXSR58C?th=1

Edit: We've been lucky in this location. Hope everyone else has been okay.

Refractor need eyepiece just as well as mount. Do you know that in this thread talk alot about the affordable SvBony mount head? There is a Mount section here in CN, why not go to the Mount section then? This thread also talk about cheap Tripod too.

I see no problem with mentions of inexpensive accessories for inexpensive refractors. And yep, we have chatted about mounts too... as scopes tend to need them. So long as it's cheap and semi-related to the topic, I assume moderators would be good with it?

Perhaps long-winded discussions would seem weird here, but a simple mention, or how an eyepiece works with certain refractors, would seem fine to me.

I'll comment on how well they play with my refractors when I have time... and the sky cooperates. That could be a while though.

I'm also seeing the Svbony 80mm ED on ebay at $350. Actually $340 for me, as they autoloaded some paypal coupon... some may have that too. Veering away from inexpensive however... just sort of inexpensive-ish for the type of scope:

In the last reply to my question about the 15% discount spectrum said they are still working on their new website but hope to have it ready in a couple of weeks. I noticed that the AstroLite refractors are now called TourStar. Maybe they will have some specials for holiday shopping coming up.
I would also like to see more information on the mini EQ, like multiple pictures from several angles and a youtube video describing features would be nice.

Thanks for mentioning the MiniEQ - looks interesting and maybe what the doctor ordered for my needs. Looks quite light duty if it is pivoting where it appears. - https://spectrumoi.com/product/minieq/

Edit: Spectrum's mini-eq may be a MirroSky like their electronic scopes. - https://www.mirrosky.com/SV-MINIEQ

Back in 20th May 2024 i bought this scope, i wasn't sure about its price, but when i looked around and checked the real price then i figured out that it is a nice offer that it will never happen again maybe, i always hunt those offers even if i am not ready or no need, but i saved a lot by doing this, i don't know if this considered to be as inexpensive refractor then, i bought it for 490.60 UAE Dirhams which is around ~ $133.

https://www.amazon.a...0?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don't know what i will use this scope for, there is a plan to use it for solar if i can find someone making for me an aperture mask, also i might use it for DSO if i can find something like 0.85x reducer and use only Ha filter, not thinking about using it for planetary [Moon, Planets], also as guiding i have something else already.

Looks like you did well Tareq since the current price of AED 892 at your link is $242.89 usd. Closest I could find is the sv48p which is $209.99 after 30% coupon. Not as good as the $133 you paid for your 90/500. Cheers!

Yes, also i bought Orion ST80 before for less than $99, also gone forever, something like those opportunities is why i keep shopping non-stop, just i hope to find time to use them all cheap or expensive, it is just that i don't stop ordering whenever i find any nice offer even if i am in coma or sleeping.

Moderator note about the eyepieces tangent in this Refractors forum thread about Inexpensive Refractors:

While we don't want to be overly inflexible about permitting some collateral discussion about inexpensive accessories (like eyepieces) for inexpensive refractors, nevertheless it's disruptive to orderly, searchable topical organization of the CN site to permit the focus to drift overly far or long from the main topic.

Hence, start a new thread in Eyepieces if you want to further continue discussion about inexpensive eyepieces.  For now, we'll leave the relatively small number of posts on that tangent in-place, but if that tangent grows any further, we may elect to move posts focused on inexpensive eyepieces to a new eyepieces forum thread, or else to simply disappear them sight..

fwiw - The 30% coupon on the sv48p 90mm f/5.5 recently posted dropped to 20%.

btw - In a moment of weakness I did get the Zhumell 70mm. At less than $20 it was too tempting after reading positive comments by others here. Now I have seven UIRs after starting my search for a refractor last fall. (Who'd a thunk it. - Mortimer Snerd) It's okay, now I have enough where I can toss one in the car, use another for solar, have a couple options for night, and still have leftovers to give away. It's all good, except the weather, smoke, pollen, illness. It's always something smile.gif

Cheers and Clear Skies Everyone!

Edited to recognize Mortimer

The biggest detractor for that achromat are the inexpensive used ED scopes that come up on the cloudynights classified section.

I hear what you're saying Rich and agree - used can save money, and an ED has less CA. You can say the same about practically every achromat that's been listed here as an unusually inexpensive refractor. fwiw - the regulars here informed me of savings on used scopes, both here and elsewhere, when I first started posting. Thank you, it's good to be reminded, especially for those who don't know.

Edit: I ain't lookin' for an argument, but my next scope will not qualify as a UIR. However, I did look at comments on the SV48P and for the most part they are very positive. I also saw some pics in the CN Photo Gallery that were taken with the SV48P that, to my eye, are impressive for what the scope is, and is not. On the other hand, Astronomics has sales from time to time too. Cheers y'all!

Heads up!
Just looked at a 90mm x 1000mm with AZ mount w/slow motion on both axis on my Amazon app. It is a Solomark (whatever that is) and is $169.99 with a $30 off coupon making it $140.

Comes with right angle diagonal and the two usual suspects…..uh…. I mean eyepieces, a 20mm and 10mm.

No Idea if it is any good but that is fairly cheap it seems to me.

Yeah, that phone holder is a bit different. I sort of wonder how well it would work w/ safari or one of those freebie starsense-like apps. That mount arm also looks interesting -- either decent or way too shaky.

And just want to mention a cheapo I picked up recently, a Meade 90mm F/8.8 -- this guy:

https://www.kosmos.c...0AT-TC_2007.pdf

Although mine is blue, not silver.

So far, pretty impressed with it. Optically it seems pretty good, although the mount is very iffy. I just checked if the controller worked by slewing the scope a bit, but didn't test the actual go-to aspect. Mount/tripod is sort of okay-ish, kind of... at least I can use it...but it tends to get the shakes.

I do think it has the only eyepiece tray I ever liked, probably because it's built-in and somewhat roomy, vs a metal thing in the center that just seems to get in the way.

I actually picked it up for the tripod, not the scope.. didn't need more scopes... as it's an oddball bucket design that works with Astroscans (someone recommended I specifically look for this model and one day I saw it on my FB marketplace).  The little eyepiece case is also kind of neat.

Price was right, at $30... minus eyepieces I sold off, so final price of -$5. Affordable!

The biggest issue with 90 mm x 1000 mm Achromats is the mount. The scope will supply nice views but the mount is not up to the length and weight of the scope..
