Hello everyone, I'd like to introduce our brand OGMA and our two new astrophotography cameras with the Sony IMX571 sensor:

OGMA is the name of a yellow subgiant star orbited by a hot exoplanet. It’s also the brand name of carefully sourced astronomy equipment brought to you by amateur astronomers on a giant quest to make astronomy more affordable for everyone.

Since our launch in 2022, we have been able to partner with well-established manufacturers to bring to market astronomy products with high-end specifications at a reasonable price under the OGMA brand. Currently, we are commercializing two cameras and a filter kit, and we are working hard to bring to market other excellent products at a reasonable price.

We are headquartered in Raleigh, NC, United States.

When you buy from OGMA, you'll:

  • Receive products that are sourced from experienced manufacturers and are fully inspected for quality in the US.
  • Enjoy extensive driver compatibility across Windows, Mac and Linux.
  • Have access to customer support located in the US in both, English and Spanish.
  • Receive products shipped from a US warehouse without worrying about custom forms, import fees, and other unexpected surprises.

Check out our cool products at getogma.com.

Juan - your website is not working - at least the links above are not working.  They were earlier, but these now take me to some odd place that says:

this is a mail-in-a-box
take control of your email at https://mailinabox.email/

It's been that way since some time yesterday evening when I tried to go there.  Still that way right now (March 14, 2023 @  1:41pm EDT)

Your SSL certificate is not valid for your site, it for a different domain name (it's for box.astromixer.com with gets to the place jd200 mentioned) ... you might want to fix this so people can actually go to your website...

Hi, thank you for notifying.

We migrated our web servers and a DNS change took longer than anticipated to propagate across the web.

It should be fixed now.

Clear skies!

Is an X2 driver coming? I use TheSkyX and hate the overhead of having to use ASCOM.

Thanks

Bob

Hi Juan, I'm looking for a IMX571 camera, and had enough of ZWO. If an OGMA camera needs service, will it be serviced in US, or does it need to be shipped somewhere else?

On the homepage, I can't find geometry data (backfocus, thread, etc). Is it something that can be added?

Hi fmendes,

I ended up picking up the color version and have been extremely pleased with my results with the limited use it has gotten. I had trouble finding it at first when I got the camera, but it is 17.5mm as shown on https://getogma.com/...ap26/back-focus. The geometry is shown on https://getogma.com/manual/ap26/optical-path-connections. When I got the camera, I believe Juan said currently they can do some repairs in Raleigh but hope to expand to be able to do all repairs at some point in the future.

Good to know. I'm reading the other thread where Juan explained the plans for the future. Now I just need the slack on the budget to pull the trigger.

Juan - Will OGMA offer a less expensive color version with the IR cut filter built in? Most of the other manufacturers I’ve seen have two versions - a more expensive AR glass option (which appears to be what OGMA offers) - and a less expensive (by several hundred dollars) built in IR cut filter option for the OSC. Thanks in advance.

No, we don't have plans to offer the IR cut filter built in because it limits your ability to work with different filters. Instead, we include for free a filter holder and a 2 inch UV/IR filter. This way you keep the freedom to chose any filter you want in the future.

If your concern is that by using AR instead of UV/IR glass we are making the camera more expensive; I can assure you that we are not.

@Tbob32 What do you mean "overhead"? I'm curious why the ASCOM driver is not sufficient. Keep in mind that the driver for this camera was written and supplied by the camera maker. Or maybe TheSky's usage of the ASCOM driver is an issue? You may PM me if you don't want to be publicly negative.

I have one, and works just great. See this topic:

https://www.cloudyni...ving-it-so-far/

Only thing I'd change in my camera would be a USB-C instead of this dumb USB-B connector. Suggested a replacement board to Juan, he said he'd look into that. Since this is not high priority, I'm not expecting a solution any time soon.
