Looks like my QHY163C is struggling. Last imaging session consisted of 300 second subs at Unity Gain and no filter. If you've seen this before, do I need to invest in a new camera or look elsewhere?

Have You Seen A Cooled Camera Do This Before

I think you have applied some process that operated on tiles of 64x64 pixels.

I have applied StarXterminator and DBE in PixInsight. Have successfully applied both without these results. I'll look into those more.

StarXterminator does that mosaic effect. Try it at a different point in processing.
Thanks for that. I'll look for a different spot to remove the stars.

It always does this, just don't stretch it too much it'll be fine.

Summary for anyone following this topic:
- Initially thought the camera was the cause
- Determined that StarXTerminator was the cause.(thanks t-ara-fan for that insight
- StarXTerminator performs it work using tiles.
- The solution to this was to check the "Large Overlap" option on the StarXTerminator dialogue box.
- That eliminated the tiling effect, as shown by the attached photo.

It's way reduced, but not eliminated. I still see it. Might have to clip the background to totally hide it.

You can try using a larger overlap. The tooltip while hovering over the large overlap checkbox describes how to change the overlap amount. You can go up to 75%.

Or dump the tool altogether.
You need calibration frames.

Was the OP using calibration frames? He didn't say.

Odd I just ran into the same problem… this is now the 4th artifact from RC that’s causing me grief… BXT is not really useful either… Adam Block gave me assurance that these issues are being addressed in an upcoming version from RC… Hopefully that’s the case… DBX will remove the grid, but it leaves the background with no color, so it’s back to photoshop again, or start from scratch and just leave the files 100% natural, option B is probably my choice…

A lot said since I went back to work...interestingly enough, it is palatable to me. Tried it again with drizzle scale set to 1 vs 2 for the previous. That also looks better. There are a few options to play with...may yet get something sharable our of this data

Once you see it you will always see it. Sort of like the FedEx logo

The PixInsight autostretch will show you just what's in your data. It's what it's designed to do. Its purpose is not to give a nice aesthetic stretch.
