Thank you!  First light will have to wait.  I am not sure my CGEM is up for the task.  I will try for this weekend.

Congratulations,

Something about seeing that LZOS logo on a lens that is exciting.  I have a TMB130 f6 with LZOS and it is just phenominal.

Your TMB130SS looks so small next to it... and it's f7.  I know how surprised I was by the size of my 130mm.

So I can appreciate how large your new six inch is.  Seems like a perfect size for a large aperture refreactor IMHO.

Looking forward to reading your first observing report.

Now to see where you end up on the AP lottery.  fingerscrossed.gif

Thank you.  :)

Yeah the TMB 130SS is absolutely tiny next to this thing.  When they said refractors don't scale up gently - they weren't kidding!

My fingers are still crossed that I get drawn for the AP 110GTX.  lol

I have an extra set of rings on order which should arrive tomorrow.  I will add a 5" D Plate and a 3.5 lb ADM counterweight at the focuser end of the tube.  All combined that should give me about 6.5 lbs of weight to move the tube up on the mount.

Thanks everyone.  Getting it cleared through US Customs was a back and forth process.

Hello Scott,

Carefully balancing the scope will help here. If my memory serves me correct, the CGEM has a payload capacity of around 40LBs, so it should be Okay. I am looking forward to your first light report. laugh.gif

HAPPY SKIES TO YOU AND KEEP LOOKING UP Jethro

No. 419 was and is temporarily the last one, and the best one, here in Germany and worldwide.

I was very tempted to pick it up directly in Sulzbach, not far away from me...smile.gif.

Now this great item will be honorably used at the other side of the Atlantic, congratulations!!!

Congrats!

I totally believe you with the shocking size, the 152 makes 130 look tiny.  Same here with my old SV152 (lens #140) that I got in Nov, my SVX130T is very small in comparison.  It is hard to believe how much difference the 2 are in size.  You very large finder with 2 more rings is a good idea to help balancing the DEC axis, so the scope can go up further in the saddle.

Though I expect your exterior dimensions are ~ the same, I expect your APM tube is significantly lighter.  My SV152 needed 21# + 11# + 7# CWs to balance on my G11.

Scott:

Are you in the habit of letting strangers in your house just because they knock on your door?  :) Do you have a theory on why this stranger showed up at your door instead of mine?

As the very first SLR, does this now make you the Ultimate Slobbering Refractor Freak?  :)

You’re in for some excellent visual times Scott…..

I had number 245 but after several approaches by the original owner to buy it back I relented and gave it back to him.
If he hadn’t been a nice guy and a friend I would still have it…

That is a extremely nice and likely last sample of this classic LZOS from APM Scott. One of the true great 6” triplet APO’s. The certificates that LZOS includes are generally a very realistic indication of the quality of the optic tested. And many times even conservative. So I expect it’s figure to be absolutely wonderful.

Also, your side-by-side picture of the 6” LZOS with your 5” TMB shows well what a step up it is in size.

Enjoy your new beauty under the stars!
