Would anyone know if it is possible to remove both tilt and the rotator from the Redcat 51?  The reason I ask is that my desired image train is 63mm and the desired back-focus range appears to between 55mm-59.7mm.

My desired imaging train would contain the following:

Pegasus Falcon rotator (19mm) + QHY OAG L (10mm)  + QHY 7 position with 2inch mounted filter wheel (21.5mm) + QHY268M (12.5mm) = 63mm

It seems that if tilt and the rotator could be removed I would gain the distance to mount this train and still have helical focus range to be able to get sharp focus.

I've seen a number of RC51-based systems with a filter wheel and OAG but none with the Falcon rotator.

Thanks for any advice and insight that you can share!

Mark

I have a RC51 and it can't be done. I suggest using a small guide scope instead of an OAG.

That's what I've done to date.  I'm hoping to set up an imaging train so I can swap it over to C8 or C9.25 and back to the RC whenever I'm doing different targets of interest.

It comes off. It's just an over engineered nightmare.

Anyone have an idea of what you find when all is removed?  Is it a threaded interface where the rotator connects to the tube or something proprietary?

Why call them over-engineered nightmares?

They’re just threaded accessories. You can remove them and explore with no concern.

Excellent. Disassembly will begin and I'll see if I can make this happen :waytogo:

Hi Mferguson. I was wondering if you you managed to remove the field rotator on the redcat? I am considering doing this myself. Thank you
