Forgot to mention that the footage also shows visible fragmentation, but I guess you noticed that anyway - it's quite obvious in the slow-mo/zoom.

 

We're also back to the cloud (and rain/high winds) here now, but looks like there might be a couple of viable nights over the next week. Like you, there has not really been an opportunity since the Gems. Hope you get some breaks in the cloud there!

I've had a good number of clear nights but was mostly concentrating on deep space.  I did get one meteor Saturday morning while making a time-lapse of the milky way rising/trying for meteors, happened to also catch the ISS and Tiangong.  Time lapse here, zooms in to the meteor at the end: https://youtu.be/SnyltpgMbTo

 

I did see a fireball the evening of 2/11 and reported it.  I was pouring a glass of water when I saw through my window a bright green meteor low in the East.  It lasted about 5 seconds.  13 others reported it too.  https://fireball.ams.../event/2024/837

Glad to hear you are getting some clear skies over there, and even managing to catch a visual fireball. I noticed that the fireball was not far from the Great Lakes - not sure if it's just me, but over the years that general area seems to have got more that it's fair share of big fireballs. Worth pointing a camera in that direction perhaps. It shouldn't be the case, but it almost seems like larger fireballs are drawn to water/coastal areas - they seem to cluster south of me as well, over the south coast and the Bristol Channel especially.

I am hoping I get a few chances to set up for meteors during the next new moon cycle.  That is the last one before the new moon of the eclipse so I will be pretty busy getting ready for that.

The same thought also crossed my mind, but if you look where the witnesses are, most tend to be many km away from water, so I don't think that has anything directly to do with it, although perhaps those areas generally tend to get less cloud?

 

Funnily enough there's been another big one in that area a night or two back.I still think its just my own bias/seeing patterns that aren't really there, but it would be interesting the fireball data from over the years combined with a map. Also one here seen by many, but in the other "hot spot" to my NE, where my cameras can't get to!

On a recent overnight flight from LAX-Copenhagen I was shooting a timelapse hoping for northern lights, but there was very little action. I did capture a couple of meteors though...

Caught a few meteors this morning.  No great fireballs and of course 2 of the better ones were in trees or clouds.

Got several meteors the night before last.  No great ones.  Was using my East view since I had power run there for imaging the comet low in the West with the telescope.  This was the brightest of the bunch.

Had some trouble with dew.  I used my new Apertura all night imaging power supply that I got for the eclipse and I suspect when using that I should use a higher setting on my dew heater controller.  Something I have to test.  Normally I run a long extension cord to an outlet and normally I get away with the lowest setting on the dew heater controller.

Nice catches! I quite like the dreamy look that dew on the lens creates, but of course would prefer to get a sharp image. Your image reminded me of this Perseid from a few years back!

 

I'm still struggling to get my cameras running here at the moment.

Thanks!  Yeah dew and fog can add a cool effect until it gets too thick.

 

Last night I turned the dew heaters to a higher setting and had no issues.  Got some nice ones including one I would call a fireball. 

 

Interestingly the frame after the fireball shows not even a hint of a persistent train.  I find it interesting how sometimes a relatively faint meteor will leave a long lasting persistent train and other times an extremely bright meteor will not.
