Hi there,

I took 15,5h of data from NGC 7023 and after applying SXT I found a faint galaxy in the image.

Aladin locates the galaxy at 20:57:43.55 +68:29:50.7, but I wasn't able to find anything about it. Would you please be so kind and support me in that matter?

Run it through https://nova.astrometry.net/upload

You can sign up for free and keep the searches you've done. It has some great tools listed on the right side also.

Hi Dynan,

already did that yesterday (job#8372276), the galaxy is even marked in the "extraction" - but wasn't annotated.

Tried to find something too but came away empty-handed.

Not every faint galaxy get catalogued, I think.

I checked and it isn't in SIMBAD. Maybe it's a MAC galaxy (Mitchell's Anonymous Catalog).

Dim galaxies are not always catalogued and may not show up in older surveys when they couldn't do deep exposures (future telescopes such as the Vera Rubin one may change things).

SIMBAD is down at the moment but I searched NED and there is a small galaxy at the given coordinates (see below). If this is the one you referred to, you can read details about it at https://ned.ipac.cal...wmap=4&corr_z=1

Hope this helps,

Razvan

Hi everyone,

many thanks to all of you. That hint with NED did the trick - thank you so much!

Have a nice day & CS!
