Hi all,
A friend of mine just came into two older scopes and he called to find out something about what he has. Other than to say the 'Sans & Streiffe' model sounds familiar, I couldn't help him, but mentioned I would ask this forum to see what information you all may have.
No photos to show at this time, until he gets his digital camera up and working again. Although, this is the information he gave me over the phone:
'Jupiter' model 178511, D=50mm, 600mm focal length (f/12)
grey tube & wood tripod, metal stick-on tag and metal focus knobs, made in Japan
Sans & Streiffe, 'Explorer model 617, D=60mm, 900mm focal length (f/15), silver and black, plastic focus knobs, also made in Japan.
Any ideas as to the date and overall optical quality of these scope models? I will submit photos when available.
Thank you,
Mark J.
