I recently purchased an Ioptron HEM44. I finally got some clear weather and was able to give it a test run..

I performed an accurate polar alignement. This is when I noticed the HEM44 does not have any 1,2 or 3 star alignment procedure in the HC menu.

I made sure the date, time and locations were accurate, I used Ioptron Commander to get this from my computer.

But when I select a star, planet or the moon.  Its pointing accuracy is way, way off..as in different time of year off.  Not ever close.

I checked the date, coordinates and the UTC, I am in the Pacific NW so it is -480 according to the user manual.

Has this happened to anyones else?

I've checked the date and time, that doesn't seem to be the problems.

I've attached a shot of the HC display. -480 should be the UTC for the NW.

You are on PDT which is 7 hours, 420 minutes, not 480. PST is 480.

You should be West longitude, not East.

You should be West longitude, not East.

He has that right - minus sign. Amazed this fancy gear needs to be told about DST.

No, he has his longitude as E118...It doesn't matter what the UTC offset is, he's telling the HC he's at a different spot on the planet.  They are separate independent inputs.

Thank you everyone.

Or I should say "thank you Mr Obvious".

It was late, I was tired and I new it would be I missed that was in front of my face.

So I reached out to the clearer minds of the CN group

Thank you all.

I only wish my equipment was as inexpensive as the advice I get from the CN group.

I was under the impression that the mount would get these coordinates from my computer and/or phone when they communicate with Iopton Commander.

It seems to only get the time, date and UTC.  Kinda misleading if you ask me.

Thank again everyone!!!

Actually iOptron mounts use Universal Coordinated Time so DST must always be turned off.  Yeah, it sounds strange to me too but that is how my GEM45 works...
