Just purchased this telescope.   I decided to upgrade to a 2" Aegena super wide 26mm eyepiece.   Also have ordered a Baader morpheous 76 degree, 4.5mm 1.5/2" eyepiece.

The Telescope came with a 25mm and 10mm 1.5" eyepiece, so I am thinking I have a good portion of the various views covered.   Plus I added a 1.5" 2x barlow, a 2" 90 diagonal and a 1.5' 90 degree diagonal

I would like to use the scope for viewing nebulae and star clusters in addition to the normal views of planets and the moon.

I also bought a cell phone adaptor for pictures pictures.

I heard the adage was " the best telescope is one that you actually use", so I felt the portability of the Startracker 102AZ would encourage more use, as would  the larger 2" eyepieces.  I like that it can also be used for terestrial views,

Am I on the right track or are there other compelling eyepieces or accessories I should consider.

I have not used the telescope yet, as it is a birthday gift for my daughter (26yrs) who loves astronomy,  So we will be using it for the first time in June.

Any advice or feedback would be much appreciated.

Hi Sammy,

I have one of those optical tube assemblies and at lower powers it is a good GnG refractor albeit with CA at higher powers due to its F/5 ratio. You mention 2” eyepieces and it looks like that refractor comes with a 1.25” 45* ‘terrestrial’ diagonal and this would need to be replaced in order to use 2” eyepieces etc. Also, due to that 45* diagonal’s prism design, it will show a faint diffraction line across the field of view when viewing nighttime astronomical objects. It will also be a bit of a strain on the neck when viewing objects higher up in the sky and which is avoided when using a more traditional 90* prism diagonal.

Have fun and I am sure that you and your daughter will enjoy using it.

Doug…..
