went to buy a 8x30w porro, which had a coiple of problems,  ended up with a 8x32 notarem for cheap, has a fungus & R barrel focusing problem

Q i presume 8 open totally from obj. end, by undoing the 2 screws pictured...when i get the prisms out, clean how do i collimate, shoild i peel off the thin rubber textured coating, or do i somehow align with the bino already open?

Hi Daniel,

For some information, see a thread on BF from back in 2015: https://www.birdforu...em-8x32.311125/

Post #5 by yovo, shows that the prisms are accessed from the front, what the prism assembly looks like, and also the focusing mechanism.

Focusing was done by moving some of the eyepiece groups, as with the Leitz Trinovids

For some more, see the last part of post #62 on page 4 at: https://www.birdforu...-images.385822/ *

John

and the focusing mechanism has come loose, not sure whether it isbromen or not? the piece beside is actually L shaped, im guessing the rod goes into the hole at the bottom of the bino, the arm goes to the focusing wheel2, , but where does spring go?

Here is a thread over on birdforum that might be of some help - including a picture of where the spring goes:  https://www.birdforu...em-8x32.311125/

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Tim

I own a Notarem. bought used but in perfect condition a few years ago, but after one walk in the forest, the focusing system failed. I sent it to Noblex for repair and they told me the main issue with these binoculars was a spring. They replaced it with another spring of better quality and all is fine now.

A very nice binocular, still in my avatar.
