I put in an order today for a Seestar from ZWO.
I have only been a visual observer with limited computer skills. The Seestar should be a nice addition to my stable of large mounted scopes.
Is there more info out there about the APP?

I'd imagine they'll hit the 1,000 shares easily, so look forward to getting my free solar filter. Although even at the full price of $49.90 it's still half the price of a Vespera solar filter ($99).
Alright everyone, lets Like and Share the Seestar S50 Facebook post here.

It isn't just the filter thats at a MINIMUM 50% off the cost. Its the whole shebang!

Only at 145 shares - spread the word folks!!

Someone will need to share/like for me too.

Someone created a seestar facebook group just for sharing the post to. Hope ZWO isn't a stickler for authenticity.

You can share it to yourself on your made-up account that does nothing.
665 shares so far.

The 1000 shares target has been met, so we should all be getting the solar filter with our Seestars.

That's great marketing.
Sure is especially since they have a few days left on the promo price.

Several were concerned if the free solar filters would be included with all their orders including retail since ZWO wasn't clear about that from the start as someone had reached out to High Point who weren't aware about any of this.
Luckily ZWO responded and cleared that up, I mean they should have contacted their authorized dealers to give them a heads up prior to running this event.
Since we reached 1000 shares and the campaign was successful, all Seestar S50 products purchased directly from the website or from our distributors will be equipped with solar filters. Since our campaign has just ended, we will follow up and synchronize the information with our dealers
Also a quick update where they're currently:
Our research and development are undergoing final validation and testing. We plan to enter the mass production phase next month. Once in production, we will ship the orders in the sequence they were received.

Hope there is some decent product inspection before shipping these out.
Though, in general, ZWO seems to do a good job on that with everything else they produce.
Also, I put in my vote for a panorama mode.
With H-alpha this would be great for capturing the Gum 12 nebula (36 degrees) and Barnard's Loop.
At present I view these via 1X night vision.
Also Milky Way panoramas....aurorae?...
I think this make astronomy more accessible - my son wants one and all he uses now are binoculars.

I have a Seestar on order with High Point Scientific. I got an email from them this morning stating that ZWO has informed them that they expect to complete production and transportation into the U.S. by mid to late September. They will be shipped in limited quantities, which have not been determined yet. These are tentative plans and are subject to change.

Very interesting. Thanks for pointing this out. It appears to be a better UI than the Dwarf2 app.
I’m not sure, however, what happened at the end when it was on NGC 7000. It seemed to be taking a 10 sec exposure but then the screen was showing the view moving around. It wasn’t the best example because it is not clear it actually found or shot it.

Yes, not the best video. I think the user was zooming into the image on screen. You’ll see that it had stacked one sub-exposure, I would have liked to see it actually stacking another sub to see the nebulosity of NGC 7000 appearing.

Exactly. It did look like a slick app overall.

Starting to get a little excited, A lot of friends and family are really interested but my full blown AP rig scares them both from complexity and time requirements. If this thing turns out to be even close to as advertised they will all want one and the kids can use mine out at the campgrounds when I have my main gear set-up. I just wish we had a set date on shipping.

Time to shipping is inversely proportional to excitement for product.

Coming into this late - just in time to catch the sale price but not a lot of time for research.
I'm located in a suburb of Atlanta with pretty bad light pollution. Haven't taken my 12" push-to dob out for years and I'm getting older too.
I've always been interested in astrophotography but it always seemed too complex and expensive, this sounds like an amazing product. Good enough to take some decent shots and get yourself educated on post-processing software, and cheap enough you don't feel like you're buying two rigs when you upgrade later.
It's kind of a leap of faith that I'll be able to get decent shots in our light pollution, but I'd love to give it a try.
