Does anyone here who pull an all nighter (stay outside the whole night till morning), do you listen to music or news while observe?

I have Chinese Opera on the whole time while observe, lol. I like multi-tasking, while listen to Chinese Opera but then at the same time I can stars hopping at the sky to my objects, lol.

I also have Chinese drama play on my phone too, lol.

I see alot of Globs per night, like alot. It globs everywhere right now. And M75 just look pathetic, it small and nothing stood out, I am sorry M75, I still love you forever and forever though.

I wouldn't even rank M75 make it to the list of top 100 of globs. That how small and pathetic looking it is.

But that why I love it, Lolol.

I came in early today, around 2AM the sky atmospheric got worst, it haze like, at 30 degrees altitude it all haze, and then clouds started pulling in at 3AM.

oh well at least I see M75 even through haze while it last before clouds pull in. I take any chance with this glob, haze, smoke, muddy, full blown bright Moon, I take it all, better than not see it. I just can't do clouds, once clouds pull in and cover the sky, I have no choice but give up and go in.

Sorry to hear that, my skies were clear through the morning but were wasted on sleep. Wish I could trade for you.

Have a good day at work Sir. Hope you had good sleep/rest with Mrs. Jehu.

Well what do I do all night before M75 up. I go through the list of Stellrrium list that say What visible in the sky tonight. and it a long list, but I scroll and pick out all the "Globulars" one. Be it if it Messier, or NGC or Caldwell, I go find it.

Since I see all the Messier globs, now my goal is the NGC globs. I actually see 2 Caldwell ones. There a Caldwell glob one at 12 degrees altitude.

I just hope this season never pass, surrounded by globs is a dream. It like Globs everywhere.

Much to my surprise the skies cleared rather nicely late last night, and I was able to do some binocular observing from my red zone home.  I've posted an observing report at https://www.cloudyni...t-3/?p=14190017

It get even dimmer, and M75 was never bright in the first place. Till clouds pull in cover Saggitarius.

Last night was a wash. Took out the NP101 for the first time since it arrived as I have been waiting to get a mount & tripod that could safely & securely handle it. Got it set up & went out early about 3A to see Saturn & the Moon. The Moon was still in the east. Got the scope balanced & working really well.

Pointed it to the moon with a 15mm TV wide & oooh & ahhed for a few minutes before this gray haze swallowed it up completely obscuring the view.

I waited a bit hoping it would pass. It taunted me a few times but the clouds closed in really eating the entire sky.

Sadly, I only had a few minutes but they were really special.

Been in this about 4 1/2 months.

I randomly bought the little Meade ETX 90 & used it about 2X. I was gifted a scope & tripod that really was more like an extension of myself. That started the bug. Picked up things as they came available in apparent good cond/price.

Really wanted to see the difference good glass & optics can make but i know I was limited on the mount tripod side. Went for a nice full WO Z 72mm kit as it was a APO FPL 53 doublet. It's really made over the top heavy & I had it about a month & most of that month was unbelievably cloudy so only had it out a few times. Then there was a really old but well made early 80mm Stellarvue 80/9D at 750mm. That would give me almost 2X the power. That's a really nice scope for $200 ish. Got me sold on SV

Then I saw a 90mm SV Raptor carbon triplet w a amazing strehl & said to myself I wanted to break out of 80mm & that's a lighter really well made scope with great optics at F7 would give me the best of both worlds. 90mm X 630mm seemed perfect & I hoped I could use it on my current tripod mount setup. Seemed like I had it all but I wanted a better diagonal & TV is one of the top so I bought a 2in Everbrite on CN. Wow, that is some massive 2 lbs hunk of beauty!!!! As fate had it it had come with a NP101 & was sold separate. When I found out it was separated from its scope I just had to keep them together even though I got a fair price it still was a big hit to my credit card so much that I didn't even know I went over my credit limit but a few dollars & they let it slide. Wow, never maxed out my credit before. CN classified & this obsession is dangerous. All the scopes were bought in maybe 2 months.

I 'm going to go through them & see which ones under 90mm I really need as there is overlap.

Took the 80mm I was gifted out the other day to christen the new mount & it's still a fantastic scope. The views are really very good & it's light. It can go anywhere. The NP101 is a beast. Sort of heavy & the 90mm carbon Raptor is really no light weight.

Still, I waited all my life loving astronomy & never taking the plunge. I'm not getting any younger so why wait... Time is of the essence. I could be gone tomorrow & at least I saw Saturn & had the joy of looking up into the great deep universe...

Mrs. Did you download the Stellarium Mrs.? You have Google Play, just search Stellarium and download the Free version one.

So Mrs. what you get into this hobby in the first place?

I understand. No judgement here, it just I salute you for be a beginner and has all the green writing (Televue) Nagler, Televua barlow, brand name stuff.

And the 2 inches William Optics diagonal too. whoa.

The good thing about this hobby is that equipments and can resold, or gift for someone in needs.

I recently gave away Free my Sarblue 70mm Mak and slow motion control tripod, the whole set, I gave away to a man who has a young daughter, this 70mm Mak can be for his daughter to start out the hobby.

I will miss it as it my first scope, but it now has a good home where the scope can be use by his young daughter. I use my 90mm Mak alot now, so the 70mm I not use, why not give it away Free.

My point is this hobby the equipments will never be wasted, there always be someone out there who will appreciate the gift, or it can be resale.

I am only 2.5 years in. But Mrs. please download Stellarium, Google Play store Free version of Stellarium, please search it.

I recommend you look at M13 Mrs. It big and pretty.

And M2 in Aquarius, oh my, it a very beautiful glob.

You will have a show with the Orion Nebula though, and Pleiades.

Right now Summer, point your scope at Cygnus and you will have a show of stars, stars and more stars everywhere in that constellation.

Use your Barlow next time Jupiter back, you might see Jupiter Moon transit. And Jupiter Red Spot.

M75 would be hard for a beginner, and with your short focal scope, you won't see much of M75 as it very small anyways, and dim. Just skip this glob, there nothing remarkable about it, people wouldn't even look at it, it just small and ugly.

But that good, M75 ALL mine, a nd forever mine and ONLY mine, Lolol. Now I sound like a Scorpio, lol.

I won't take your M75. My eyes have been on M42 but it's not observable now.

Will download Stellarium.

I studied physics, astrophysics, cosmochemistry in univ in the 80's/ Some of my professors worked with Carl Sagan & NASA.

I DISCOVERED I had a problem w higher math so I left my dream. Got a BS in Psychology which is worthless & upon graduation after 6 years entered the job market. Fell into Real Estate in NYC & that was that. No sky in NYC...

I have a very heavy science background & there have been so many wonderful discoveries about the Universe since I left college & I just am cramming 40 plus years...

You are awesome Mrs. XY, you very smart. Only if I was a fraction of smart like you.

Well seem like you back to California now, and not in NYC, I wouldn't like NYC, it too cold.

Sky is not good today, clouds will pull in too, I hope you see your Saturn Mrs. XY

oh Mrs, please get a Messier list sheet, and mark off any objects that you saw, and try to see all the Messier objects.

I been neglect housework duties for the past 4 days as I stay out there till 5AM, lol. But tonight I will do some housework. I basically see alot of things in the sky already considering I am a beginner, nothing in the sky interest me anymore, right now I just want to wait for M75 clear the horizon.

Usually in the Spring I do not stargaze, Spring is galaxies season and galaxies just never my thing,  and never will be my thing. Every year int the Spring is my scope get dusty from 3 months not use.

All my life, I was never a variety person, and I hate change. I get fixated on one thing and that it. And yah. Globulars is what I fixated on, lol.

Here is my Messier list so far, it took me 2.5 years to get this much done. I'm at my end, and I max out what my small scopes capability. The remaining galaxies I haven't find it just impossible with my scopes.

Now I just want to concentrate on find more NGC globs (as I finish my Messier globs), and I like asteroids (I saw 2 asteroids so far).

Nice list. My Astronomy TA in Iniv Dave Kratz went to work ^ retire from NASA. He cataloged & wrote up all the Messier Objects in the 80's/

I'm late to the party but I'm not going down without a loud hoopla!

Last night was bad again. I awoke after 4AM tired & not wanting to get out of bed but I did & the sky was a gray ghostly wash so went back to bed.

Not sure what tonight will bring but we just need to have heart & follow it under the skies that the universe sets before us. Nothing else we can do!

Cloudy here Mrs. XY

I had no choice but go in, clouds, and so windy, 13 mph winds at night.

I hope you have a better sky there where you at.

Next week should be Sunny though, according to weather, lol.

I thought I was just going to look around for a few minutes and I ended spending 2hours chasing galaxies with my little 80mm. The sky was somewhat acceptable at 18.93 near the zenith. There was quite a bit of moisture in the air so the sky was washed out below about 30 degrees. Even so, I was able to ‘detect’ some Messier galaxies including:

M81 (M82 not seen)

M84

M64

M49

all of them very faint. There were several imaginary detections as well but that’s just because I knew they were there, I can’t honestly say I saw them.

I moved on to the obvious globulars

M3

M5

M10 (but not M12)

M80 (maybe)

M4 no way

M13

M92

then I piggybacked the baby 50mm and went back to the bright globulars using a 7mm 62degree. Not as well as I had hoped. It was sharp but dim.

over all I am very happy with the performance of my recent eyepiece purchases

25mm 74d

13mm 62d

11mm 62d

7mm 62d

Sir Jehu, you not like your Mak anymore? Seem like you have not use your Mak lately, you only mentioned you use your Dob and Refractor.

I can see all of those targets in my 70mm Sarblue 1000 focal Mak. I can even see M75 in my 70mm Mak.

I recently gave away my 70mm Sarblue Mak the whole set including slow motion control tripod, to a man who has a young daughter, it be a good starting out scope for his young daughter. I been using my 90mm Mak too much, so why not give away the 70mm Mak so someone else can be use of it. I know it will go to a good home, to his young daughter for use.

I wanted to use Alt-Az for speed and I don't have a vixen clamp on that mount. I also wanted to check the eyepieces on the little 50mm and that's harder to piggyback with the EQ mount.

I'm confuse, you mean you want to mount your scope sideway like the Refractor, instead of the EQ3 where it just go straight in.

I thought the EQ3 mount can be swing around too, not just slow motion control.

How can the eyepiece be harder on the Mak though, compared to the Refractor. If anything the Mak should be more sturdy rugged glass built than the plastic Refractor. Eyepiece would be easier to test on a big scope than a small scope.

The comment about checking the eyepieces has nothing to with the ease of use, I wanted to see the views through those scopes. The refractors are not plastic, they are both metal and glass and the 80mm has a  2” GSO crayford focuser.

Yes, my Alt-Az mount does mount on the side but both the Mak and ‘frac have rotating focusers. The EQ is nice when I want the pleasure of tracking and a small scope. I am so much faster with Alt-Az when I’m just shooting from memory.

The dob is just as fast but I didn’t want to wait for the mirror to cool. grin.gif

Oh, and yes I could have set up the EQ for Alt-Az but I have the latitude dialed in real good right now.

Cloudy here Mrs. XY

I had no choice but go in, clouds, and so windy, 13 mph winds at night.

I hope you have a better sky there where you at.

Next week should be Sunny though, according to weather, lol.

Cloudy last night too. Can hardly remember crawling out of bed after 4AM. Was sort of happy it was cloudy as nothing I could do but go back to bed.

Tonight the moon is supposed to triangulate with Venus & the Pleiades low in the sky in the east. Not going to get it in a scope though or even a 10X50 wide as it's about 15 degrees wide. So if it's clear I'll use a binoculars.

Pleiades may be too low for me to see though.

It's been sunny in the day no problem & even midnight is clear but by time for Saturn after 3A it goes gray.
