Hi, let me introduce Oasis Focuser, the gear-based high precision clutch electronic focuser. It is an electronic focuser with clutch mechanism, designed for astronomical observation and photography amateurs.

It has the following features:
Clutch function — Easy and fast switching between motor and manual focusing
Bluetooth function — Mobile devices such as mobile phones can be used to control the focuser via Bluetooth
Small size — Round appearance with small size
High precision — Micron precision for each motor step, and gear-base rigid components achieves accurate focusing result
Ability to drive heavy load — Testing indicates that it can driver net loads more than 5Kg
Wide installation ability — Easy to install or uninstall focuser body. The focuser body can be shared between different telescopes easily
High integrated — Except for the ambient temperature probe, all functions and components (including motor, controller board etc.) are implemented and integrated in the single small-sized focuser body

The minimal suit of the focuser includes a main assembly, a clamp and a gear as the following pictures.

The following picture shows an example of its installation on SkyRover 102 APO.

Also there is a video review about it:
https://www.youtube....ujzPyfX9E&t=16s

In remote observation station, we do not need its clutch function. But due to its high precision design and stability, it is widely used in remote observation stations.

For more details and the installation examples (including in remote observation station) please refer to the following address:

Price and availability?

The minimal suit (like the suit for SkyRover 102 APO) is about 320 USD. There is discount (about $60) for users who help to measure the diamemters/sizes for unmeasured/verified telescopes.

We started to sell the product in China from March, 2022. Now it has been fully tested and is available for users out of China.

Thanks!

This looks really nice. Looks like it attaches to the coarse adjustment axle of most focusers? Do you have a list of known compatible scopes and what is the net weight? ASCOM compatible?

Yes for most telescopes it is installed on coarse-tuning side.

Please refer to the following document, Chapter "Quick Guidance" or Chapter 9 "Known List" for the list of known compatible/verified telescopes:
https://www.astroasi...e_Manual_EN.pdf

The weight of the main assembley is about 170g.

It is compatible with ASCOM. It supports INDI too. Also we provide Android/iOS apps which can be used to control the focuser via Bluetooth.

Thanks.

I don't see an adapter available for the Sky-Watcher Esprit120 in the manual, what dimensions do you need to fabricate one?

Thanks!

Hey Frank,

Appears that I have a use case for you. I have an SCT with a Feather Touch Micro focuser on it. I noticed in the installation manual that the Oasis can be adapted to fit a Feather Touch with a rabbit head clamp. Does this apply to the micro-focuser's as well?

Thanks,
KGB

Hi KGB,
The rabbit head clamp is designed for FeatherTouch FTF20. I am afraid there is difference between the diameters of FTF20 and FeathTouch micro-focuser for SCT. So the rabbit head clamp may not fit the micro-focuser.

Another problem is that the entire solution of attaching Oasis focuser to FeatherTouch micro-focuser (for SCT) will make the focusers look too long.

However we have a complete solution for installing Oasis Focuser on Celestron SCTs. With this solution we can do manual focus with a knob or do focus electronically and switch between the two modes freely.

For more information please refer to the following addreses:

We do not have US dealers yet smile.gif
In North America we have Canadian dealers. They are Starfield and Astronomy Plus.

Do you have any vendors in EU? Looks like it‘s a lot smaller footprint than what I have on the FRA300.

Does the adapter for C8/C9.25 scopes fit old style Celestron C8 OTAs?  I have a Nexstar 8 GPS OTA that I'd like to use with a motorized focuser.

Hi, the adapter for C8/925 is compatible with Celestron NexStar 8SE. We have users who installed Oasis focuser
on NexStar 8SE. But I am not sure if the adapter is compatible with Nexstar 8 GPS. If you can help to do some measurement
then I can confirm that.

I'll get some measurements, however, I'm pretty sure that the bolt pattern for the Nexstar 8 GPS is not the same as the 8SE, as I tried to use focuser parts (the plate specifically) from an broken 8SE on my Nexstar 8 GPS and they didn't fit.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I just saw the match for this while checking options to motorize my FTF2025.

About 20 years back I bought a JMI motorized focuser for my 10 Inch Meade SNT - utter livesaver for public viewing and star parties.  No touching the scope, just press buttons on a simple keypad.

Is there a control option for these focusers which does not require dragging a laptop along with me?

Richard

Hi Richard,
Oasis focuser can be controlled by mobile phone over Bluetooth. We developed the mobile phone application to control the focuser for both Android and iOS phones.

There is a simple demo for this in the following video (starting from 8:30):
https://www.youtube....h?v=9JujzPyfX9E

In this mode we don't need a laptop or USB cable.

Thanks.

My question is will the Astroasis focuser fit on an older Celestron C8 OTA or a Celestron C8 Starlight XLT OTA?

They both have flat back ends, not raised up like the newer ones. I am currently using a RoboFocus focuser on the Celestron C8 OTA. Id like to know if it will work as we have one of the focusers sitting here and am looking at using it. I'd like to know before spending the chunk of change on the adapter.

Thank you

Ralph

Hi Ralph,
It looks the focuser of Celestron C8 Starlight XLT OTA is the same as the focuser of C8HD. The adapter can be installed on C8HD, But as I know it is not tested on older C8 OTA or C8 Starbright XLT OTA.

We need some measurement to check if the adapter can be installed on older C8 OTA or C8 Starbright XLT OTA.

Thanks.

Some more questions for Frank ...

Will the Oasis Focuser fit a TS Optics Photoline 72 and a Sky-Watcher Explorer 200PDS? Will I need adaptors or will it fit straight out of the box?

It has occurred to me that I could fit a gear to each scope in place of the coarse focuser knob and then swap the focuser part between them as needed, as it seems very simple to release it via the clamp. Is it possible to buy an additional adaptor / gear to do this? I’m thinking that I may need an adaptor for the Explorer 200PDS anyway, while using the one that comes with the focuser for the Photoline 72. Would this be possible?
