I didn't find it to be particularly rare. The 10mm is the one I had a hard time locating.
Something is strange about the top. I haven't seen any Ultimas with a machined top like that requiring an eyecup to complete it, especially an eyecup that chokes the lens like that.
Do a search in the classifieds for "Ultima 24mm". You'll find quite a spread in prices, some loopy claims. I don't think the posted one is a $135 value when I'd love for it to be worth a mint since I have them all.

sorry to hear that. I have seen all those colors in orion. So it is not your equipment, but your eyes that is the issue. So sorry you have those issues.

I would jump if local and it had a pier and tripod for both Newts and fracts. I would hope it was better than my AP400 i just had for the 826 as it was no good for a 8" Newt.

Well Chas it is local to me. If you want to work something out message me I can provide the tripod you need. I had one custom made so you could use it with newts or refractors.

That's a pretty good deal currently.
Nice thing about this one: you can add a $20 'Vixen 36.4mm' adapter to the draw tube and use 1.25" EP's natively! (one of these https://www.bhphotov..._to_31_7mm.html )
Also makes a great solar scope with a Herschel Wedge.
Here's a thread about one I fell in love with: https://www.cloudyni...pace-scope-151/

Basic cheap alt/az scope....but looks like new old stock in Wood Box. Folks, it even has the cardboard box the wood box goes in, parts still in plastic, and maybe set up once or twice if at all. A nostalgia piece for someone and they'll ship it. $21 shipping and handling from Cali to Denver. I don't have any nostalgia for it but I'd ante up if it were local. (now an interested watcher here probably hates me)

If you set a BIN for an ebay auction, it disappears once bidding exceeds the reserve, so after the first bid if there is no reserve. If you want to give the option to sell at a price lower than the BIN without losing it, you have to set it up for offers rather than as an auction.

I must confess I don't know my 60's-70's large equatorial mounts nearly as well as many on this forum...here's a 2 inch shaft mount with an 11 inch RA gear on casters, in Montana $1000 in the CN classifieds https://www.cloudyni...uitorial-mount/
Is it an Optical Craftsmen mount?

The cast appendage below the lower RA bearing bracing the worm assembly is a strong indicator that it is an Optical Craftsmen mount.

Yes it is an O.C. I used to own that mount. The restoration work was done after I sold it. I have not seen it in person since I sold it but I believe the restoration work to be exceptional, I can't guarantee anything.
If you read the posted linked ad, I also sold the 12" F16 Tinsley with it. All the write ups and pictures of the Tinsley restoration and improvements have my admiration as well as the O.C. mount. Great price on the mount, wow.
Edit: Not for Chas simply because it is too much. I would describe it as massive. Makes an MRG or 1.75" shaft Starliner look puny. It would make the vet run away screaming pulling it's hair.

My OTA i had built in 1993 was super good. 10" F/8.3. The mount is like all the other brands with clutch slop and no big bearing surface so they were all jitter and sticky city kitty..
A light 8" would work fine on them mounts but 10" and up is too much.
The engineering in those days was crude. They emphasized thick RA and DEC shafts, but neglected bearing areas. Firms like Byers began to address this with conical bearing with large upper bearing surfaces. Astro-Physics mounts are a good example how that concept works.

The evolution in mounts is remarkable in a few short years. The Edmund 3" refractor rode on a shaft-type mount, which was very heavy, even though the shafts were only 3/4". It had long heavy wood legs that did not adjust. In contrast, the mounts on the Japanese refractors began a dance between cast aluminum bearings and reduced shafts and finally today, no shafts. The entire Tasco 3" which had no shafts could fit in a small wooden box and it was just as useful as the big, heavy Edmund. The Japanese mastered aluminum casting and that changed everything.
