Degraded foam - it turns to sticky dust. Bad stuff and it gets everywhere. Hope that the visual back had a cap on it.

There is just no way i could lay out 10k for any 6" APO or fract other than a 5" Unitron or a 6".
Think of it in-terms of cost per inch. It's $1666 per inch of aperture. The most I've spent on a scope, per inch of aperture is $400 per inch.

Have to agree one of the sweetest and best scopes we have a keeper oh yeah the old FC 76 clearly punches above its weight class. All in high quality build we expect from a Tak. So easy to manage and pop on easy mounts It is a fine a grab and go as we might use. I use it also as a winter cold night short look scope...
just saying

Looks antique. I would be highly motivated to acquire that to restore and preserve, if anyone local is willing and able to pick it up and ship it I would pay generously!

Heck, I already tried to buy it before even getting to jrags entry. My response went while first looking at the link. It looks like a flipper situation but I'm willing to offer a little more outright, plus a little for shipping hassle, plus shipping. I'd still kept it cheap, my offer being a nudge in the door more than actual possible value. I did NOT go on about Alvin Clark or possible value, or stick my nose in price where I have no interest. I might offer more pending gut feeling about the seller if we communicate more but I won't go goobering how he should ask more. I'll apply some horse sense and decency as long as I'm interested and if things progress.
So far I have only offered to add shipping. Now if those in front including OP are interested, I can work with that too. pm.

Probably good since Alvin Clark isn't even the correct spelling.

Sellers can be funny people. A few years ago I was eyeing an Exakta camera with a stock Zeiss 50mm lens. The seller wanted almost $100. For a film camera? Then I noticed he had a nice pair of Zeiss binoculars. I almost didn't ask. $15. I paid in full and was on my way. Turns out they're excellent condition (look almost new) from 1936. And one of my favorite pair. (pairs?) Edited to add: "They were walking 4 abreast (that's 2 deep)" -Benny Hill.
More on topic: I posted this link a few pages ago. It shows it was posted 6 days ago and the ad says they're moving in 7 days, so today may be the last chance to save it! I was going to head to Cosmic Acres today, but we decided to wait until tomorrow. So, I have the time but still don't have the room. Somebody? Please? https://losangeles.c...7666142984.html

I don't own "A" Clark. If I end up with one, I might get it down.

I didn't know the chinese were operating back in the 1800s, copying American scopes. But ya, I noticed the misspelling too.

That's a Mizar. looks the same as my 310, same mount as well. $30 is a very good deal. It's about 3 hours from here but I already have one.
