I awoke from my nap just before 4am to what we used to call in New England a Mackerel Sky.  Small clouds looking like the scales of that fish.  In any case there were holes and the scope was set up and I was outside so we gave it a shot.  Sifting through the wreckage now but did find this single image that came out ok.  Seeing between the clouds was not too bad but the quality graph in AS!3 really suffered from the changes in brightness caused by the obstructions.  I don't think any of my 90s captures came out unscathed.

 

GAIN = 250, 4ms exposure.  15% of 14,600 frames

I show it as a comparison to the 5-image sequence just before it (for which the clouds had not impacted the captures) and things are much improved.

10 more minutes was all I needed for the clouds to hold off.  Ah well, C'est la vie!
