There is a Russell Croman web-page for GradientXterminator and NoiseXterminator, etc and on it there is professional-grade astrophotography examples

one link for: galaxies and one for nebulae...

This is a link for the Andromeda Collaboration (it used a ground-based 8.2 meter scope, a 4 meter scope for H-alpha data and data from the Hubble HST

https://www.rc-astro...oto/id1214.html

apparently there is a way a person can 'mask' to prevent the blowing-out of the core's 'swirl' of detail...that is self-evident in this photo (you can zoom-in a lot) and even

see the PGC 90494 too.  Looking clearly defined and 'razor-thin'

There is other good-deep-sky on that web-page too.  So please check it all out!

The only thing I can say is, "how can it possibly get any better?". Very, very nice!

Clear skies and keep looking up!

Gorgeous.  I can take pictures in my sleep. If only I could edit so effortlessly!  lol.gif

Pretty, but the over-saturation of colors looks a little unnatural to me.  The data in this image is super impressive though.  Really nice.  If you use GHS to localize the stretching, you won’t need to mask things.  Masks can be tricky to do it.  I don’t think a mask was used in this image.  You could see some uneven saturation if they did.
