A few Moon images from 10-1-23 with a C11 and a Starizona .63 reducer, Asi533MC Pro and a uv/ir filter. Stacked from two minute avi's that were "boiling," so not the best seeing.

Good shots, but poor seeing and a near full moon is never a good time to take images. The crater walls will look flat due to directly overhead illumination.

Oddly, the C11 was possibly at a disadvantage because of this, and a smaller aperture might have given you sharper images. For example, here are some shots I took on 9/30 with my 90mm MCT and a DSLR:

When the turbulence is high a small aperture (< 4") will generally show a sharp image that bounces around, whereas a larger aperture (> 4") will show an image that is relatively steady but soft.

Good points! I'm also wondering if the ASI533MC Pro shares some of this due to it's low video frame rates. I think it was around 7 fps last night. Will try a ASI224MC, that has very high frame rates (and a smaller field of view), just to compare.

You can get faster frame rates out of your 553 by shooting lunar in 8-bit instead of (can't recall the 533, 14-bit or 16-bit) in any case never bother with anything about 8-bit for lunar of planetary.  It's just showing down your frame rates and there no information of value in those additional bits.

I tried the ASI174mm and the frame rate went up and the arc seconds per pixel fit was better for the C11. I think another big problem is the Asiair Plus. A dedicated planetary program like FireCapture or SharpCap would do way better. Also the seeing is an issue. I noticed that waiting an hour and previewing again and the "boiling" settled down. So a work in progress. Thanks!

So many people are getting such excellent close up images, that the bar keeps raising! Way to go average raisers! Some are really excellent!
