I need the battery size for my ortho Celestron 12.5mm ill reticle ocular 1.25".

a CR 1616 will fit in the casing but will not illuminate the reticle.

polarity is correct

I had this eye  piece for about 30 years.

Hi Mr.Bill, I have this same eyepiece -- did you ever figure out which battery(ies) it takes?

I'd be interested to know.

Thanks,

Rob

Did you try a A14PX or two LR44's stacked and taped together? or maybe the two 357's, I hear they last almost twice as long as the LR44's

A CR1632 is like a CR1616 but twice as thick.  Is that what you might be needing?

Well, I found this: https://agenaastro.c...ece-12-5mm.html

It states, the "illuminator requires three SR-54/LR-44 batteries".

I couldn't find these at the local dept. store, may have to

order online.   Of course, this is if the specs are the same as my older Celestron unit.

LR-44 is very common and so is SR-44 (I think SR-54 is a typo).  Those are the alkaline and silver oxide versions of the same battery.  It is the most common battery for non-motorized film cameras, also known as MS76.   I seem to recall 357 is also equivalent.

Hi, I'm just curious.  I've seen some writing online which suggests this piece has a grid for angular measurements, however I can't find any definitive confirmation of this, or pictures of what is visible through the eyepiece.

Can anyone confirm what type of reticle this eyepiece has?
