While preparing myself for imaging the upcoming 2024 eclipse, I learned of a project which I think can be of great interest to people living close to the totality line. Unfortunately not open to people being far from it, sigh.

In fact, I've been asked to participate as a mentor.

The South West Research Institute (SWRI) would like to make a whole video of the 2024 eclipse. To do it "whole", they need people from all over the USA to participate. They are asking regular folks living on the totality line (or very close) willing and able to do imaging on the eclipse.

SWRI will provide, free of charge telescopes, cameras and other equipment for the individuals to use during the eclipse and keep it after the event. They will also provide training. I think this is an excellent opportunity for you to take advantage of and/or share with your friends!

More information will be available at https://eclipse.boul...izen-cate-2024/ (not much yet posted, which means not many competitors yet and more chances to be selected), but you can ask for more info and volunteer by emailing cate@boulder.swri.edu

My understanding is that precedence might be given to astronomy clubs.
