This video demonstrates the phenomena of creating sharp and fuzzy shadows during the partial phases of an eclipse. Shadows cast in line with the crescent Sun create a sharp-edged shadow, whereas shadows cast perpendicular to the crescent Sun create a fuzzy shadow. During the partial phases of an eclipse, the light from the Sun, ~94 million miles away, changes from being an extended (wide) source of light to a linear (narrow) source of light in the in line direction. Amazing!
