Speaking of public outreach ...

At times I've brought a tellurium or a model of Saturn or the moon.

I'd be curious to know what props or visual aids other people bring, if any.

I have an orrery, but I don't take that out. It's too fragile, too special. I meant tellurium (earth-moon-sun). I see it's also called a tellurion. Didn't take a picture. It lives in the car.

I gotcha.. i have a couple of these i made from scratch in metal / wood .. one i take to schools to demonstrate how moon rotates, eclipses.

My handmade orrey is at the local library on display with my planet/ globes, with other items ..

And yes , i made the base ..walnut top/ bottom , and center is skinned in balsa ..
Its sitting on pads as i dint want the feet to scratch the finish before cure ..

Just stunning! Would love to see and hear more about this and other orreries. That seems reasonably on-topic, since it is a prop for outreach purposes.
