Hell all. I know nothing about imaging the sun but want to capture some shots during the total eclipse . I have a dedicated astro cameras , asiair and go to mounts. However I feel my DSLR with a telephoto lens or redcat51,
and intervalometer, on my gti mount would be easier and not take away from the view . I like the idea of the live view and interval setting with remote shutter .

My question is what would be the best process for capturing the eclipse with my setup? Should I set a specific interval for shooting , exposure bracketing , remote shots with filter off at totality ? Polar aligning during the day sounds like a blast !

Curious to see what other people do.

Your equipment choice is great. There are lots of threads in this forum on how to's. But I recommend you purchase this app https://www.solareclipsetimer.com/ and accompanying book (print, .pdf, etc.) to get the best overview of what you need to do.

 

You've got some learning and practicing to do, but like you say, it's a blast!

All of your gear is fine as long as you also include a solar filter for partial phases.  You can do the as simply or as complex as you wish, but complex = far greater chance for something to go wrong.  I recommend reviewing several methods by experienced eclipse photographers here, choose your plan, and practice at least 10 days on the full sun in advance to perfect your execution.  Automate as much as you can so you don't miss observing the event while fiddling with camera issues.
