Thanks, Mark.  That matches my experience with A7R4.  When I used it with a sharp scope, I saw many stars turning green.  That's consistent with the late generation of Sony's star eater: stars aren't gone, but turning green.

I reviewed whwang's A7R5 raw files and agree with the conclusion that there is no evidence of the dreaded colour polygons (Sony FE 135/1.8 GM) with the lens corrections disabled.  In addition, there is nothing strange about the histograms e.g. spikes or gaps caused by channel scaling etc. This is good news at last from Sony!

I am very new at this and using a A7RV. Looking at lens corrections in the menu I see:

Shading Comp.:
Sets whether to automatically compensate for darkness in the corners of the screen. ([Auto]/[Low]/[Off])
Chromatic Aberration Comp.:
Sets whether to automatically reduce color deviation at the corners of the screen. ([Auto]/[Off])
Distortion Comp.:
Sets whether to automatically compensate for distortion of the screen. ([Auto]/[Off])

It seems that shading/vignetting is the main item to disable. Should the other two be turned off as well?

Thanks!

Switch them all off since none of them offer anything useful for deep-sky astrophotography and any raw-processing has the potential to introduce artefacts such as concentric rings.

Maybe Mark can correct me on this, but if you aren't using flats (for example if you are shooting ultra wide angle lenses), you need to leave the shading compensation on because it doesn't just adjust for darkness but also color shifts at the corners otherwise.

The A7RV doesn't have the dreaded Sony concentric polygons when the lens compensations are switched off.  But I don't have any evidence for what occurs when they are switched on.

On a related note, has anyone gotten the A7RV to work with an ASIair? I can get it to connect, but I'm getting exposure errors.
